I'm still not seeing how this makes him smarter than me or the majority of the people here.

Well it's obvious isn't it? He's living the amerikan dream. Making a living for doing nothing. He's probably VERY tech savvy and probably likes doing computer crap as much as I like to cast boolits. Only difference is, he's getting paid to do what he'd normally do for free. From some people's point of view that makes him a genius.

I thought it was kind of funny. It could not happen to me though, even though I have a bayo for my Mosin. Why could it not happen to me?

I would never spend $3000 on a TV.

You would if it were part of the gear needed for your job. Otherwise, no way I would either. Same vein, my PC cost like 3k but that is tied to my job.

Its not as easy as it sounds. To make the big money on a game, you have to be one of the top players which means convincing the company to give you an early release of the game (can be easy or hard, depends on who it is). You have to have thousands of $$ in gear, from high def TVs to fancy, programmable controllers, and more; it takes a pretty good rig to record the action in a top notch format as well and man hours to produce the videos. You have to spend untold hours at the game to learn its every secret, exploit, area, and strategy. It can easily be a full time job, and a fun one, but it can also leave you with painfully sore hands, a splitting headache, and after a while an actual hatred of the game you are playing.

He isn't making money from the game. He isn't one of the top players either. He is a commentator. Look at it as he is a reviewer. He doesn't get the game in advance from the publisher. He pays for it on release date or gets one of the copies that "fell off a truck." To do what he does, you don't need anything special other than a 200 dollar Hauppage HD-PVR and a decent computer. The TV he destroyed is likely not what he uses to play video games on. Most of those guys use smaller screens to play.
