I wish them luck but I don't think Tennessee is quite ready for this yet. I hope I'm wrong but I don't think I am.

I agree. All good ideas, but the "no permit required" item has little chance of passing.

I too hope I'm wrong.

We've still got Beth Harwell ( female version of Jimmy Naifeh(sp?). She's going to

bury as much as she can in Committee. Of course, she can expect a lot of help

from the media.

Gonna be interesting to see how it all shakes out.

I can't argue with the parking lot bill going back up on the block....

I agree the "no permit" stuff still to soon but if we don't keep on it, it will never happen.

With Harwell and Haslam in office? Nope. Not happening.

Do I think it is the time to push? Well, after that little event with the Representative being DWI and carrying, I think it a touch too soon to push. Makes the movement seem out of touch.

Well, I don't like that modification to the parking lot bill. How about passing a law that says an employer cannot compel an employee to allow them search the employee's vehicle? Nothing about guns in that.

Excellent thinking there, sir. Persistence in all things, especially those of importance.

So many incidents on college andh/s campus in the past few years that maybe it will be possible to gain some more support this time around for passage.

And I've always opposed the parking lot restrictions. On my last job, we were forbidden to carry or bring weapons of any type on company property. This really caused quite a bit of disgust with management, as many of the office and sales staff drove from as far out as 75 miles to get to work. And some of us on the sales routes were out all day and sometimes came in to an empty building and had to make night deposits and park our trucks in an easily penetrated lot in front of the building.

Since I no longer work there, I can say probably as much as 50% of the outside staff had firearms in their vehicles. And I strongly suspect one or two of the drivers might have forgotten to leave a gun at home in the morning.

The parking lot bill needs to be pushed and the argument should be along this line; businesses have no authority to ban items found inside an individual's vehicle. Allowing them to ban "weapons" inside a vehicle would let them ban tire irons among other things. If the individual doesn't remove it from, or access it while in their vehicle, it doesn't become the property owners concern and cannot be banned. An exception could be made allowing the individual to lock it up, thus technically accessing it, while inside the vehicle.

Up here in Indiana we have had great strides in being very friendly to the 2A. Mitch had stated before signing the bill that he believed that a person vehicle is an extension of their private property, which we most all agree on that. There were many new gun laws that went into effect back in July. I do find it very odd that in your state you can now carry in an establishment that sells alcohol as long as your not drinking. I drink while carrying and have never once forgot the fact that where ever I go I am in a possible deadly environment. I myself have been urging a state senator to push for a no license carry but no luck yet. Best of luck in moving forward with 2A rights down there!

Folks will have an easier time to legalize the carrying of handguns in all local parks and drop the 500 fine for carrying past certain signs WITH handgun carry permits than trying to make it legal for folks to carry WITHOUT a permit. It might even be easier to add a simple exception/defense to prosecution for permits on school property. If a school shooting team can possess firearms at schools, why can't someone who has a handgun carry permit?

These laws are easier to fix with the handgun carry permit system than the general public thinking anyone can carry at a school, local park, without a handgun carry permit.
