LE Duty Handguns in the State of TN

Just because you're unable to forge polymer doesn't mean you should hate it.

I'm still looking for my expiration date on my glock.

I actually don't like most polymer pistols because they feel like a brick to me. I guess Ive just shot to many 1911's and smooth as silk revolvers that felt I perfect in the hand and I cant get used to them. On the service life, I'm just repeating what this gentleman said. I will say I would prefer a Sig to a Glock, but in the end I would prefer the LEO's to have the best tools they can get no matter what as long as they arent just spendig money for something pretty.

Tapatalk ate my spelling.

Which respecatable manufacturers are cheaper than Glock? They may not be the best but their price is hard to beat, especially for LEO's.

Agreed. A lot of folks forget that LE organizations are not paying MSRP on these things when they order hundreds or thousands at a time. Glocks are built to be the AK-47 of handguns...I'd say they do a pretty good job.

I read a Gaston Glock interview sometime ago. Wish I had the link. If I remember correctly, Glock's contract price on bulk pistols was under $80 a piece for LE and Glock was still making about $25 on each pistol. Kinda tough to compete with that.

Makes you wonder why we're getting raped for $600. But, other manufacturers could most likely match, or beat that price as well.

It is marketing, the same reason some athletes get paid to wear, eat, or drink a product we pay money for. The reason there is a 500% markup on guns is because we are paying for research and design as well as for gun manufacturers to fight for our rights and hire lobbiest.

Probably more about the liability insurance for normal civilians. They don't have to worry about that with LE.

I'll check next time I'm in the armory but I'm pretty sure this is the case as I worked in the armory last week and there were no 23s that I saw only 22s. Us regular officers are stuck carrying .38 revolvers (Smith and Wesson, Ruger security six, and Taurus) and Remington 870s while on patrol or long lines. They took the mini 14 from us because of some jack ass in Nashville. Sent from my mind using ninja telepathy. Edited by tdoccrossvilletn

I would say it's about 20% and Chattanooga is a pretty large Department. I'm surprised at how few 9mm remain.

I'm not they just don't have enough stopping power its been proven time and again.

Lots of Marshall County still sporting 17's with some having 26's.

Marshall Co. SO are issued the G21 along with Lewisburg PD. I'm not saying there aren't others but the 21 is issued.

Fairview Tn uses a Glock in .357 Sig. Don't know what model that is, but I know for a fact that's what they use.

Would not this add expense to their ammo budget? I wonder who makes these kind of decisions?
