Sounds as if you are getting a good one. I bought an unconverted Saiga in .223 off a forum member a couple of years back and did the conversion myself. It's pretty easy and you end up knowing your rifle inside and out. I might add that I have hardly any mechanical ability. What pushed me over the edge was that I couldn't see paying CCA $650 to convert a $400 rifle. I'm known somewhat for being a cheap SOB. But I do highly recommend the Saiga.

I have had good luck with Vector AKs. I have one with just a few rounds through it. A buddy of mine has run a few thousand through his and has never had a problem.

I converted a Saiga 12 ga just following the Carolina Shooter's Supply you tube videos. Very easily done.

I just ordered a .410 for $299 from Classic Arms.

After reading much malignment of the Century Arms WASR 10-63, and being hardheaded as I am, I purchased one from a fellow member here. After properly installing the trigger so that it would stay in place, I'd have to say the WASR is about as much fun as you can have with your pants on. It is quite accurate, the Tapco trigger isn't too heavy, and it goes bang every time you pull the trigger. The sights are in alignment, and magazines are pretty snug when locked into place. It also looks more like what I picture an AK to be than many versions currently available today. Maybe I just lucked out and got a good one.
