no bayonet on it and it poa was almos poi. at 50 yards the front sight post was almost as wide as the target. i gust aimed for the middle of the head and did not take much time doing it.as soon as i had it lined up i shot.if i take to much time now the sights start to fuzz up on me.

I found the same thing with my mosin.... the sights are a little hard to aim precisely. I didn't take my bayonet to the range with me but I wish I had, to try it. I had pretty nice groups at 50-yds, but consistently shot around 4" or so to the right. I read that the horizontal offset can be due to zerioing having been done with the bayonet, but I forget which way they said it drifts POI. Right now I'm assuming it would correct the offset I saw. I hope, anyway :-)

My wife and I watched a movie on Netflix this morning called "The Way Back" with Ed Harris and others. It was about some guys sent to a Siberian work camp who escape...long story, but near the beginning, at the Siberian work camp, there were Russian soldiers walking around with their Mosins and bayonets attached. I told my wife about the Mosin Nagant rifle and how a lot of people in the US were getting them at a low cost (hint, hint I want one for Christmas). She seemed more interested with the content of the movie - women! My nephew bought one of these and can't wait to get out and shoot it...I'm sure I'll be getting one soon, even if Santa can't pull it off for Christmas. B

it's hard not to like them when you can buy a round for $79 and a hex for $89.i say buy them now because the prices will keep going up

If you have a C&R license. If not, the prices are a little different.

Now you need to start casting for it and tighten those groups up significantly.....not to mention make it easier on the shoulder and wallet.

I took my son, brother, and brother-in-law (family in town for the holiday) to Stones River yesterday and shot my 34 Tula for the first time. We had a blast (pun intended). POA and POI seemed pretty close. What a fun gun to shoot. Very impressive.

PS - The staff and Range Officers at Stones River are the best.

Took my 91/30 out saturday for the first time in a long while.

Put clays on the berm at about 125 yards.

Shooting offhand and no bayonet i could not hit anything.

Put the nazi skewer on and magically the rifle zeroed in. Hit 4 clays out of 5 shots.

The bayonet made all the difference.

i have a '28 tula hex and a 39 tula round and i havent shot the '39 yet, my 28 shoots great. i had to adjust my front sight to the right cuz mine was shooting right about 4.5 inches at 75 yards. after drifting the sight i can now enjoy hitting coke cans out to 100 yards if i do my part. and thats without the bayonet. i know these rifles were originally zeroed with the bayonets attached, wich is why some of them shoot much better with them vs. w/out them. im excited to get out and put some rounds through the '39 round low wall and see how she does once i get her sighted in good.

I love taking the Mosin to the range. I took it again this morning where she made a LOT of noise, killed some virtual Nazis, and got the usual compliments.
