Loading Win. 748 with standard primers.

I've used 748 for years with standard CCI 200 or Fed. 210. All I see in loading manuals with 748 says use Magnum primers. I've never had any problems at all. Accuracy in .308 and .223 is good. Anybody else use it ?:leaving:

I don't use it, but if you are getting good accuracy and no unburned powder left in the barrel, I don't see where you could go wrong. Honestly, I think a magnum primer is fairly useless. There are few loads that TRUELY need the extra oomph, and few of those actually get you any real world advantage. Took me a while to mature to the idea that more is NOT more.

I use Win 748 & standard primers all the time in both .223 & .308

BTW, Lyman #49 and Hornady #7 doe not call for magnum primers (Unlike Sierra #14)
