RAMSHOT Pistol Powder at Cabelas $11.90 / pound

I was looking through the Bargain Cave and stumbled on RAM SHOT powder. Cabelas is selling 1lb of Zip and Silhouette powder for $11.90. The HazMat fee is $20 but if you order $99 or more, you can get free shipping (does not cover the HazMat) so that helps offset the HazMat charge. Use code WGIFTS for the free shipping but it does expire on 11/29. Not sure how long the sale on RAM SHOT lasts. If you can get together with another reloader or need a bunch of powder, this is a good deal.

I haven't used either so its not an endorsement, only passing on what looks like a deal.

When powder was real scarce a couple years ago bought (pretty cheap especially in a powder shortage) 5 pound jugs of Ramshot Zip, Silhouette, and Enforcer.

The Enforcer is sposed to be good for full-tilt-boogie magnum pistol. The zip is sposed to be similar to W231 and the Silhouette is sposed to be "nearly identical" to the old Win Action Pistol, WAP.

Before I bought em, did web searching and didn't find significant complaining about the products. Got the impression that the powders are not real commonly used compared to some of the old standbys, but the people who used the Ramshot liked it fine.

The Silhouette is the only one I've got around to trying. Had loaded a bunch of .357 Mag with blue dot, and .380 with W231 before I got the Ramshot powder, and haven't been shooting much .357 or .380 lately.

I loaded about 1000 9mm XTP JHP 124gr with the Silhouette which seems to work fine. Wanted to load em "pretty hot" because of a couple of pistols with stiff slides. The Silhouette at slightly lower than the max load, pushes the XTP's the same velocity as the "Hornady Custom" brand of factory 124gr XTP ammo. That "Hornady Custom" factory ammo is not +P, but works decent. The Silhouette seems to drop a pretty consistent charge from a Dillon powder measure.

One of these days will get around to trying the Enforcer on .357 mag.
