entry level ar optics opinions

ok well I just found out that my Christmas bonus will be on my next paycheck :). So as you guys with families know that means 5-10% for me, the rest for the family. Ive already decided where Im gonna put it, and thats in a good entry level CQC style optic for my first ar build. I dont want a full length scope. Im not a big fan of red dots either. I wear contacts and it seems to me when Im at the range shooting, its hard for me to focus on the bead of the firearm. Ive come to the conclusion that its the contacts fault. With that being said I would like something with a small power fixed magnification (3x or 4x). The two Ive got it narrowed down to are the Burris ar-332, or the Primary arms 3x or 4x scopes. both these brands would seem to fit my criteria pretty well, now I just have to decide which one. I can get the Burris on ebay for about 286 with free shipping from a top rated seller. The primary arms is definately cheaper at about 180, and alot of people seem to be happy with it. Im just wondering what your guys opinions on these two optics are? Im sure some of you all have these, so speak up and tell me what you think of them please. Ive read good and bad reviews with both, so Im really about 50/50 right now. Thanks

p.s. I cannot afford a eotech or aimpoint or trijion right now. especially with the holiday season upon us. so thats why Im not buying one of those, it just doesnt fit in my budget at the time. maybe sometime next year I can upgrade to one, but in the meantime I will get one of these

I went through the same thing you are right now with my AR, and I ended up going with a fairly cheap route and ended up regretting it. I find myself shooting better with irons than the cheap red dot that I got, I might suggest just use your irons until next year and get the better optic that much sooner?

The new 3x optic by primary arms. I love mine and its only 180 if i am.not mistaken.

I REALLY like your PA optic. I would get one if I had a place to put it.

Are you talking about the one that was designed just like the burris ar 332?

I like the Millet DMS-1. It's great for the money. A bit on the heavy side. But again, for that amount of money..............

I must agree with the Millet...for the money. They are decent scopes offering variable magnification. I have one on a FAL (.308) and it has performed well/ held zero.

I had two Millet DMS-1's once upon a time. One was perfect and the other had an issue with the lens coming loose inside and would rattle and not hold zero. Both were purchased new and saw very light use and were never dropped. I'd take a look at the Leupold Mark AR or Nikon M223. I haven't had any of the Burris low power scopes but the Fullfield and the XTR I have work great and are solid optics. If you can save up for a while longer get a Trijicon 1-4x Accupoint (~$700)....truly outstanding scopes and worth every penny.

I just bought the Primary Arms Micro Dot for my home defense rifle and also the Primary Arms Green Dot Reflex for whenever I can bear to pony up the funds for a Nightforce scope on my precision rifle to attach it to. Hopefully these inexpensive optics are alright ;)

Burris TAC30 or Leatherwood CMR. Both can be had for just a tad over $300.00 . Both are 1x4 power and can be shot with both eyes open on 1x like a dot or Eotech.

The Vortex SPARC comes w/ a 2x magnifier and a lifetime warranty. Size and weight is comparable to the Aimpoint micro series, and MSRP is $200.

If you can't save and buy yourself an Aimpoint, I'd grab one of those.

I bought a Vortex Crossfire low power varible, and it seems like a good product so far. I have read good things about the Sparc as well. There are several good choices, and many have been mentioned here. Base on what you are looking for, I would go with Primary Arms or Vortex.
