I heard about this a while back and had forgotten what it was called. I'm going to look for it.

Thanks for the suggestion. I put a request in at the library for the book. Looks like about a week's wait. Hey, might as well take advantage of my tax dollars.

Just finished this. Very thorough research and interviewing done. I'd say only about 40% is on the AK47 and its descendents, the rest is mixed between the development of machine guns in the 19th and early 20th century, the failure of the M16 in Vietnam, and a short biography of Mikhail Kalashnikov. Don't skip the notes at the end; they have a lot of neat extra info.

I read this when it first came out. Probably a "must read" for a "game changer" firearm. The geopolitical developments due to the freewheeling proliferation of this firearm can't be undersestimated.
