As an Army Veteran, I'd like to say thanks to those currently serving on active duty or deployments and defending our freedoms, and for making the sacrifice you are currently making for our country, our safety and security, and for all the citizens of this great nation as well as the sacrifices you make for your families, and that they make in order to support your defense of freedom.

To all the Veterans who have served, your sacrifices and commitment's so this nation are held in the highest regard, and we all appreciate your sacrife, committment and dedication to the preservation of freedom.

To all vets and current active duty, reservists and national guardsmen, today is the day that America recognizes you. May you have a blessed day, and enjoy a free, hard earned, and well deserved meal on some of the places around your locale.

I know that several restaurants are giving veterans a free meal today.

Applebee's in Murfreesboro

Chili's in Murfreesboro

Outback Steakhouse in Murfreesboro (unconfirmed)

I'm sure these same restaurants in other cities are doing this as well. and here's some other places that are participating as well.

I would also like to say thak you to all the men and women veterans here on TGO that served this country. I can't even imagine the bravery it takes to volunteer to protect our country in the ways that you all do. And you do it with very little thanks.

You are all American Patriots. You make me proud!

Thanks!

What did you all do in the service?

I was an Infantryman with B Co. 2-502nd INF, 101st ABN from 2001-2004 and now I am a PSYOP Team Chief and will be in Afghanistan this time next month.

Happy Veteran's Day!

My wife and I are both Veterans. I am still serving. We went to the Olive Garden tonight with the family and they gave us both a free dinner. When we were getting ready to leave they then handed us a little card that said Thank You. Inside was a $10.00gift card, one for each of us.

Kudos to the Olive garden. I was speechless after a free meal. I will be writing a letter to their corporate headquarters.

I am in the Army doing full time Reserve duty. I have served in many units over 35 years and have always been a Medic.

Bud, I thought you were already out the door. I just got through pushing out the 535th to where you are going. They got there on the 25th. If you or your Family need anything let me know. God Speed and keep your head down. We lost two there last September so be careful.

Nuclear Propulsion Plant Electrician, USS George Washington. My hats off to those in harms way. The worst I faced was being cooked by zoomies or boiled alive by steam. :)

Basic at Ft. Jackson, SC, 2-60th Infantry Battalion, Bravo Co, 2nd Platoon "Terminators".

We were the only platoon to qualify 100% first time go at the firing range on qualification day. And the first bct platoon at ft. jackson in several years to do it, we made the Ft. Jackson newspaper.

1/222nd Aviation Regiment, Bravo Company, 2nd Platoon "Bulldogs".

At the time my MOS was designated 68Y. AH-64D Apache Avionics/Electrical/Weapons Systems Technician at Ft. Eustis, VA.

My military career was cut short by multiple fractures sustained in AIT. High arches + standard issue boots resulted in stress fractures in basic and during some bct refresher training in june 2002 I landed wrong after jumping off a stack of logs angled about 6 or 7 feet up in the air and it fractured in multiple spots in my left foot and did ligament and tendon damage in it as well. Spent 6 months in a walking cast and got shipped home.

Basic at FT Knox C/2-46 4th PLT, "Rough Riders". While we had a couple people not qualify the first go round, our scores were the highest. We also passed the point of utter hate for each other and managed a small level of self-autonomy as a platoon the fastest. We were also one of the test companies for a new course for Advanced Rifle Marksmanship, resulting in a LTC and CSM with us at the range!

Now it's 1-25 SBCT HHC/BTB, "Kodiaks". 13F Fire Support Specialist, though I'm more of a Targeting Specialist. Currently deployed to Afghanistan with all of our battalions. Got a couple more years in Fairbanks before I try to work out college, whether or not to stay Active and do part-time, or go Guard or Reserve and do full-time.

I was commo. Specifically, I started out as a Tactical Communications Systems Operator/Mechanic then did a sh*t load of cross training and ended up as a Master of Communications. Initially, I was detached in support of the 2nd of the 130th Field Artillery Brigade, but later became a more or less freelance Commo guy going wherever, whenever and however I was needed.

To my fellow Vets, I say "Thank you for your service and dedication!" To pretty much everyone else, I say, "It was my honor to serve the greatest nation the world has ever known - no thanks necessary."

Happy belated Veterans Day.
