Anyone EDC a larger revolver

Recommended Posts

I have always carried a smaller subcompact auto and have recently acquired a larger .357 revolver(Ruger security six). I am wondering if anyone else has ever or currently does carry a larger revolver as there EDC. I carried mine yesterday and the weight did not bother me but the shape of the gun was a problem with the cheap nylon holster I got with it. I have a good leather one coming so that should solve the problem.

I've got the 6" model so mine's too big to conceal.

My Dad does have a 4" GP100 that he is considering carrying but doesn't have a holster yet. What holster did you order? I recommended that he go with IWB just to make it a little easier to conceal but he wants to use an OWB for more comfort. It's probably possible for the winter but not sure about summer with a OWB.

I never have felt comfortable carrying OWB since I have a slender frame. It's just too hard to conceal. I bought this holster. Nothing too fancy but if I decide I like carrying this gun I will probably order a better more secure fitting holster. I have always had good luck with this type of holster though. I believe don hume makes pretty much the same holster but they were back ordered for 4 months. These guys impressed me by saying they could have any holster for any gun ready in about a week.

MphsTiger1981 is right. The key is a wellbuilt holster and belt. I've generally carried a full size 1911. On occassion I will carry a Smith N frame 3 1/2 or 5' barrel. Thad Rybca a man of slight frame and awsome leatherwork.Years ago showed me his inside the pants holster with his 6" securitysix. So it can be done.

Cheers,
