Today's hunt

Well this morning was very different weather wise. Got to the woods and the wind was blowing some. We (my son and I) got settled in to different stands. It started raining "sideways" and was really windy.

Well, I had a doe come in on me and couldn't get turned in my stand for a shot. I have indured all I wanted this morning and about 6:45 am my son buzzed me on the cell phone.

He had a buck come in on him, and was feeding around his stand. My son, asked him how old he was, the buck deer grunted twice (for 2 years old), then my son put his rage broadhead through both shoulders. The giblet buck went about 60 yards and went down. He has a scrub rack and dressed out at 130 pounds. We should have let him go so the neighbors could kill him, but the freezers are getting bare.

My son's nickname is "Bubba" (seriously, that's what I call him).....This buck came off the food plot this morning during blowing rain and gale force winds. What a morning indeed.

His neck was swollen and his scent glands smelt really bad!

Fine steaks indeed!

I'm hitting the woods myself. We have let so many deer walk this year, I'm going to try and collect up on one tomorrow.

Nice little buck WD, the bow was probably a better choice over the ML if it was raining. On a side note if I had to sit through the rain I would have shot him too. I went this afternoon, quite windy, even so I saw three doe.

Tell Bubba congrats! Tomorrow morning should be good. This afternoon should have been good too, but I won't see any woods till Saturday morning.

What time will the tenderloin be coming off the grill tomorrow night? I don't want to be late...
