Hello from Memphis

Hello everyone. I just came across this site today, and I like what I see so far. I have a love for guns, and have been shooting since I was a young boy. I am a freq. user on glocktalk.com and mastermason.com, and I look forward to jumping in the disscussions here.

Any local gun clubs around town? I have a group of friends that I meet up with on Thursday nights at Range USA, so our wives and girlfriends can shoot for free, but we are not organized. I would be interested in any info on shooting/gun clubs.

Anyways, I look foward to having conversations with you guys.

Welcome to another concerned citizen.

So what does it take to be a Mason?

Thanks for all your welcomes.

To answer your question Saintsfanbrian:

  1. Being a man, freeborn, of good repute and well-recommended;

  2. A belief in a Supreme Being;

  3. Ability to support one's self and family;

  4. Of lawful age; and

  5. Come to Freemasonry of their "own free will and accord".

That it is, if a person meets the above requirements, then they should ask for a petition to join, and then the process starts.

Welcome MemphisMason

good to have another brother here from Memphis.

Saints,

Everything MemphisMason said is right. Number 5 means you have to ask a member to join. They will not ask you. Next time you see a friend wearing the ring with the "funny" symbols on it, ask them the same question you posted here.

Clownsdd, I don't get out much so I don't have many friends that wear the ring. The last one I know that did past away and he just told me you had to know one to be one and left it at that. I guess I wasn't their type of people at that time in my life.

We have to be sure the person wants to join, "to be one ask one". That is all it takes. I don't know the situation, but if you asked "What do I need to do, to becaome a Freemason?", then his answer should have been, "You just did it". He would have then given you a petition to join, and then the process would have started.
