Your best bet is contact the parole office; I had a friend in a similar situation in MI when His brother got out. The State parole board allowed him to keep his firearms in a safe that his brother did not have access to and as long as his side arm was on/ with him they were fine (he did get it in writing). Over all it will be up to state law and the parole board. Even if the Parole board allows it get it in writing as a Parole officer or a Judge having a bad day could call it constructive possession and end up landing the Granddaughter and possibly your friend in jail.

If the owner hasn't been convicted of any crime, then I don't see the problem as long as he keeps his weapons locked up. Why would he lose his RKBA because of someone else's actions?

I think the OP was asking if it was legal for the felon to live in a home with guns that don't belong to him. G. Gordon Liddy talked about all the guns his wife owned, but that's my only knowledge of someone being able to do that.

the op said nothing about being a felon.

I've never heard of parole for misdemeanor crimes.

If it was just a misdemeanor than there is no limitation on owning or beig near a firearm. Am I missing something?

Nope that would be probation.

it may differ from Tennessee, but i had a friend in Missouri who had a felony conviction for repeat dwi/dui, he was not allowed to be near ex-con's who had felony's, he could not live in a household or visit anyone, where there were firearms, could not ride in a vehicle with someone else who was carrying a firearm, could not drink, was not supposed to do drugs, and got popped 3 times a month at random for urinalysis, and his parole officer would show at his house at various unexpected hours, 3 am, 11:30 pm, 1 am, 9 pm, totally unannounced, and she would bang on the door, and she always had a cop or other parole officer with her, and she'd make him wait in the living room with the other fellow, and she'd search his room, closet, the other rooms in the household, the fridge, freezer, his car, and the cupboards, storage totes, and everything while he just had to sit there. Sometimes she'd bring a K-9 unit with her. it was really awful, but I can't say I felt bad for him because he brought it on himself for being stupid....over and over and over and never learning his lesson.

He now resides in a Missouri State Correctional Facility near Lake Pomme de Terre serving a 12 year sentence for and this is not a typo....19 dwi/dui's from 1999-2009. he once got 4 in the same year. He got #19 in September 2009 and went away shortly after that, he'll be gone until Sept 2021. I'll be 41 years old when he gets out, that's just crazy.

things may be different here though, not sure how that would work in Tennessee. my guess would be no go on the firearms and she'd have to move elsewhere. but the only way to find out is to call the parole officer.

When a person is on parole they do not have 4th amendment rights. Her parole Officer can check the home any time they please. It depends on her conditions of parole and what her Parole Officer decides.

It’s serious though; if they violate her for felon in possession; she goes back.

His mommy worked for the county courthouse as an assistant to one of the judges. She knew all the prosecutors and all the judges, and she got her son off the hook for 14 of the 19. he has only been convicted of 5, all the rest were pled down to reckless driving and he'd have to go AA classes, anger management, house arrest, probation for 18 months, fines. Finally one of the judges who has a real bad temper got tired of mommy interfering and got tired of seeing his face in his courtroom. One of our mutual friends was there the day he went before the Judge for #19, he was first on the docket, Judge stood up pointed at him, and told everyone in the courtroom that all plea bargains were off, nothing was getting reduced and that they could all thank my friend for pissing him off.

This is no lie either, I heard from our mutual friend back in May, that some of the guys in that courtroom ended up at the same detention facility that he ended up going to, and they and several others caught him in the prison laundry room last February and did some very bad things to him, and then beat him to half to death for ruining their plea deals. He had to have surgery on a certain exit entrance, and spent 3 months in the prison infirmary recovering. he still can't walk right and I'll be surprised if he makes it out alive.
