My friend got robbed

Recommended Posts

If they've got a gun on you, it would be foolish to try and make a move. You can't outdraw a drawn gun. Give them the money. Not worth your life.

This plus remember he had two kids with him.....can you imagine living the rest of your life with the $1300 and missing a kid?

Yeah but they probably screwed up a lot of horses. Which were then eaten. Cause Korea and all.

You can certainly out draw an already drawn gun. Happens all the damn time, for spaghetti monster's sake!

By the time the BG realizes there's a gun in your hand instead of your wallet, it's too late for him. Like Mike said, action is quicker then reaction. :bat:

Of course, this is only applicable if you research real-world stats and not just rely on gun board hearsay...

As far as the OP goes, this is why I only park in outlaying parking spots away from everyone else (and this is coming from a guy with handicapped parking). When I see someone coming my way, I KNOW, without a doubt, that their intentions are no good. YRMV

I can't see any sense in counting that kind of money - no matter WHO is in the car with you - in an automobile in a public parking lot without actually having a handgun in close and evident proximity. Sure, nobody should ever be robbed, and in a perfect world they wouldn't be, but gawdalmightydam! hasn't this guy ever heard of common freakin' sense? Sounds to me like he was asking for it.

(That's my opinion - feel free to make it yours.)

Agreed..Stickj and...practice,practice,practice.

To the give up the money crowd:

But if you are going to hand over the money and not fight back or make a stand, why carry a gun in the first place.

I always figured that if anything ever happened I'd be facing a armed assailant and be facing a uphill struggle to begin with.

Also what if the perp spots your gun, you going to let him disarm you and take your gun too.

Unfortunatly, until they take it too. If they see it.

I agree with this ... If I see 3 guys approaching me quickly (whether dark or light) and don't see a firearm, I'd then draw mine so atleast I had the jump on them. If their's is already pointed at me, at that point, it don't matter whether I'm armed or not, my firearm won't leave my side.

As long as you do it quickly enough that you don't have to shoot them in the back I don't see the problem.

well what I'm wondering is, if the perp(s) hold a gun on you and take money from you by force, and you have no clue who the guys are, this money is all you have in the world, you have to no way to recoup this money, so if it's been taken by unlawful force, are you legally able to go after them and take it back by force? (like if you had your gun in your car? but couldn't pull it on them because they took you by surprise, but once they fled, you were able to get it out. That's your money, your property, or are you just supposed to let it go and forget about it?

I feel bad for the guy only in the aspect that he just took out a loan for that money, and now he's no better off than he was before AND he has to pay on a loan that he didn't even get to spend.

If you start chasing some one you are crossing a line.

The farther you go, the more you are at risk legally.

Just think it through a little farther.

Some one robs you. You figure out he lives next door.

So you grab a shotgun and go next door to get your stuff back.

I think we all know that would get you into trouble.

So NO....using lethal force to get your wallet back ain't gonna fly in court.

You can't go back to your car to get your gun if someone robs you. You can't use lethal force to get your wallet back even if you don't have to leave the scene and return with your gun. You can use lethal force to prevent your wallet from being taken if it's being taken in a way that puts you in reasonable fear of immediate serious bodily harm or death (to you or another). Carrying a gun does not make you the police, and it does not give you free reign to use it anytime someone breaks the law or does something bad to you.

I am a bit surprised your carry course wasn't more clear on these amazingly important issues.

No... you can't outdraw a drawn gun... Their gun is already drawn... that's the point.. lol. It's like seeing who can eat a hamburger the fastest when one person has already eaten it.

Man! I sorry that that happened. I am really glad that he and his kids were unharmed. I was just in there last week and again the last couple of days. I guess it's a reminder that one never knows when that occasion we train for will show up, huh?
