I got one when I graduated (2 months ago). I like to read in my spare time but lately there isn't any. The times I have used it I love it...I have the wifi only and it does great! Got a cool little case for it. Half the time, my wife steals it on her way to work.

Had mine for about a year. I've read a couple dozen books on it. I love it.

Don't have a Kindle but I downloaded Amazon's free "Kindle for PC" and use my laptop like a kindle. Shop the Kindle Store at the same price and download via the internet. Great way to read.

I love mine. Great to be able to carry something small instead of a big book. Also nice that my wife and I can share books at the same time (me on the Kindle, her on her phone). I have the 3G one as well as Wi-Fi, but if I was going to purchase again, it would probably just be the Wi-Fi version. I don't really need to have the 3G stuff since I am on Wi-Fi most of the time and you only need it when you are purchasing/downloading books.

My wife has one and she loves it. I love it also because she reads alot on vacation and it sure does help on the luggage not to have 50 lbs of books when flying.

I got WIFI one for Christmas last year. At first I thought the screen was going to be too dim, but after using it it various lighting situations I found it to be very easy on the eyes; even more so than a "real" book if reading in the sun, as you don't get the light reflection / glare from the white book pages. It's rechargeable, and since the screen is not back-lit the battery holds it's charge for a very long time. I was also concerned about not having books I like available for the Kindle, but this hasn't been an issue either. Matter of fact, there are lots of great FREE books available if you search "$0" at the Kindle Store. - Plus, it's a MP3 player, so you can even do books on tape, if you want! I like the feel of a real book, but the Kindle is light, holds a ton of great books, easy on the eyes, and holds a charge for a long time - It's great!

I love(d) my Kindle as I travel ALOT and it was great due to its size. Long battery life, non glare screen, etc. However, I left it on a plane about two months ago. Never heard from anyone as I had left it open with my first name and phone number available. Luckily, I remembered to disable my credit card for downloads. I am now considering an Ipad2 or the new Kindle Fire.

I recently bought one. What do you think about them?

I really like it. The print and background are easy on the eyes, you can surf the web, play simple games, and of course read any book from a huge selection, including a number of freebies. Current/new books are pricy, almost as high as the printed version, but that is the only real negative, I expected electronic books to be cheaper. You can also subscribe to many a newspaper or magazine on them for paperless enjoyment. Money well spent, if you like to read. There are probaly 100k pages of books on mine after only a year.

Bought my wife a nook last Christmas, she absolutely loves it. It goes everywhere with her. She's the type of person that will go through two or three books in a week or two, so it has saved us a lot of money, and space!

I was skeptical on how well I would like mine. I have had it nearly two years and now I don't like reading paper anymore! It is fantastic. One cool feature if you have a long comunte, is that it will read to you. I use that alot in the car. Also, I hear now you can checkout ebooks from the libarary but I have not done that yet.

Also, customer support is stellar. Mine died on me a month or two outside of warrany. I assumed I would have to pay for another one but they allowed me to trade it for another one at a nominal cost.

I bought a Nook Color a month or so back at great price. I then bought a Android card for it that converts it to a full fledged Android tablet with 32GB of storage. I liked it before, I love it now. Still has the functionality of the nook, and can read nook books on it, but I can also read any other kind of e-book on it now, Kindle, Sony, whatever, and can also surf the web via wifi, and I can do pretty much anytghing anyone else can do with their tablets. Since I've converted mine, B & N has come out with a Nook tablet, and have downgraded the cost of the original nook color by 50 bucks. But even with my n2a conversion card cost, I'm still ahead moneywise. I take it everywhere, and using a program called Overdrive, I can read library books on it too.

The main thing that in my opinion sets apart the Kindle (as well as possibly some of the other dedicated e-readers) is the "e-ink" screen. It literally looks like you are reading a printed page. I wouldn't own it otherwise. I get bad headaches if I stare at a computer screen for too long.

My wife has one and she loves it. I don't use it, but the screen is very readable. It's much easier to read than a laptop/iPad screen. There's no glare on the Kindle.. Ron

this is very strange for me, as I'm normally really big into technology and gadgets and gizmo's and electronics, but I refuse to buy a Kindle.

I grew up reading every fiction novel in paperback or hardback that I could get my hands on, Tom Clancy, Dean Koontz, John Grisham, James Patterson, Stephen Coonts, Dale Brown, and there's just something familiar about curling up in your favorite chair or couch with a blanket and losing yourself in a good book, and flipping the pages, and the thought of reading it on a portable gadget with a screen, where you scroll your finger to go to the next page doesn't appeal to me.

I don't get it, because like I said, I love gadgets, but the kindle will never replace the experience of reading a real book of fiction for me. :)

On the other hand, I love downloading my textbooks for class online though, saves me from having to tote a large, heavy paperweight around and I can access it on my computer at home or laptop at anytime...so go figure that one out and get back to me.

maybe Colonel Sanders was right, there MUST be something wrong with my medula oblongotta, and that's why I'm ornery. :)
