Been a while since I logged on. I have just been busy with the transition from school life to work life. I graduated in May and passed the July 2011 TN Bar Exam. I am currently temping for the state conducting appeal hearings. Not sure what is in store next. I am seriously considering pursuing a career path in state or federal investigative law enforcement. I have passed the FBI Phase 1 exam already, but will need more work experience to be considered highly competitive. I also just took the Memphis PD entrance exam and PFT. Awaiting to hear back after they run my background check. Would love to do something with the TBI, but it appears they are pretty difficult to get on with. Any helpful advice would be appreciated

Nate, glad to hear the good news man! Congrats on passing the Bar Exam and good luck with that FBI job.

I wouldn't limit yourself to Tennessee, or Shelby County/Memphis, plenty of other LEO and Federal Law Enforcement Opportunities out there in surrounding states, and sometimes it's just a matter of knowing someone.

I'd contact your professors and see if they can write some professional letters of recommendation on your behalf, and if they have any contacts that they can call up and maybe pull a string or two. I've found this to be a very very effective and successful method with some of my professors in regards to internship and future employment opportunities.

What about private security firms that do high profile security detail for high profile clients?

Now that is something I did not know Jack. Although it does seem like the Dept. of Homeland Security is trying to integrate into everything these days.
