Review: Advance Holsters by Brent Fernandez

Okay, so a couple of days ago, Wednesday, I got my holster in from him and I took some pictures and have been breaking it in since them and here's my initial review.

The packaging was great. I had taken the holster out before I wanted to take pictures but it was completely covered by the packing peanuts so it was really safe and secure and made sure the kydex didn't break or anything in transit. He also stapled his business card in for that personal touch and I rather like that. It looks pretty good out of the box and the side where your gun goes in is pretty smooth. The kydex is a tight fit and I mean tight. I had a bit of time getting my gun in it initially and let me tell you about ruining the finish on your gun. A good 40 times of inserting and removing will have that kydex putting some wear on your firearm's finish. I solved that problem with a bit of electrical tape and so we're good now. The backside of the leather is pretty normal for hybrid holster's that I've seen but the top of it comes over my boxers and rubs on me a bit. Thankfully I'm pretty skinny so it's not a lot but lord knows it can get old if you wear it every day so I would suggest an undershirt. The kydex also does a good job of covering everything on your firearm that's important. It covers the magazine release button, your decocker, trigger and trigger guard. The draw is really nice and smooth as well.

Other than that, I wore it around from the time it got here around 4pm until I woke up to go to work the next day. That's right, I slept in it and it was still golden. It's still going to take a bit of time to break in but so far, it's well worth the $50. The draw is pretty decent. The clips are strong and I mean really freaking strong. It's actually easier to put it on my pants and then pull my pants up than it is to try tucking it in with my pants already up. His site says you can adjust the cant and ride height and I'm guessing you can by moving the clips but I liked the initial setting myself. It's just slightly more comfortable to me than the Crossbreed Supertuck. So keep in in your minds when you want an IWB holster but don't want to pay a lot. Also, he made it and shipped it within 10 days which isn't bad at all and definitely beats the extreme waits from Crossbreed and Mtac.
