Beautiful animal ... wish we really did still have some here. Besides the black ones, I mean.

When I lived in Lincoln County, Kansas we had a pair (unofficially, since officially they don't exist in Kansas) that I observed on several occasions who had an extensive range in the Eastern part of the county. They are indeed beautiful animals, my favorite of all the big cats.

There was one killed on I24 west of Nashville last year some time. It's very possible and there are a lot of reports of them coming this far over. They are all over PA and Down south it makes sense that they would migrate a little farther west.

Unofficial sightings

No, there wasn't; unless it escaped from captivity somewhere.

No, they aren't.

Unofficial sightings...

"Unofficial" indeed. Bunch of black ones, too, so that makes it all the more credible for sure.

Just nope. Even if you have "seen" them "all around" (unless you are about 120 years old). :grouchy:

They do exist. I was hiking in the Smokies yesterday and spotted a Black Panther that spat Water Moccasins at me.

Gosh OhShoot, cougars are all over the place. There's a list of sightings right here in TN. Heck, someone even saw two cougars hanging together which is odd for solitary creatures. In fact, looking through the list people have seen cougars in Brentwood. Not sure why you haven't seen one.

Wait, you roll with a camera or a trail cam or something similar? Cause that would explain it. While the woods are chock freaking full of cougars (two or three per acre I'd wager) and downtown Knoxville probably has a good dozen running around cougars are smart animals. They can tell if you have a camera and then they never show themselves. They are the ninja-trolls of the big cat world.

Pennsylvania cougars are all over the state. Those things love crowds and don't shy away from the camera, as so:

They call them nitty lions and apparently they get a shoe budget. As for wild cougars in Pennsylvania, doesn't seem likely.
