Might soften up the bore. :P

A bag of cotton rags (made from t-shirt material) from Lowe's, Home Depot or wherever doesn't cost all that much and you can cut thousands of patches from one.

Agreed. And Hoppes smells way better than dryer sheets.

You may get a velocity drop after using dryer sheets. The bore, being reduced in or completely rid of, static cling, would have less drag and therefore a small reduction in pressure as the bullet moves through the barrel easier. I would certainly stay away from Snuggle brand sheets as they could have the opposite effect. By "fluffing up" the rifling, the interference fit between bore and projectile could cause massive pressure spikes.

Dryer sheets collect lint and other debris, aka "dust" when used. Recycling them as bore cleaning rags would introduce the grit into your barrel.
This, if you were going to do it, use a fresh one. One sheet would probably do 3 guns, and they are cheap.
