I saw it on an over the air local station. The graphic was a hypnotic spiral with lightning in it??? But apparently the stations got to pick their own background.

No audio at all, unless they used the hypnotic spiral to make me forget what I heard and I'm now programmed for something? I've been very hungry ever since.

So video, no audio I'd call it a fail. With the hypnotic spiral I'd call it a creepy fail.

I'm disappointed I thought it was suppose to take them all over at once with the same message. I'm also disappointed that the hypnotic spiral wasn't shown everywhere.

It's not all at once. It has always been a relay system. The system itself works pretty well. It's just that the government is broken. Kinda like everything else they touch.

A hightech government failure instead of a proven low-tech solution. You just cant beat Amateur Radio for emergency communications.

This wasn't high tech. In fact, they need to improve their tech. Can't knock ham radio, but the masses can't pick it up. I've been in a couple of places that were blasted back to the stone age, and broadcast radio was IT.

I was listening to the radio over the internet. Didn't hear a thing. Maybe they better get Algore to look into this.

Same. I was listening to WIVK and about 15 minutes before they warned that it might happen. I noticed about 2pm a song dropped for a moment and restarted or buffered but I never got the test and I was waiting for it. Kinda bummed out that I was not warned even though it was only a test.

We don't feed EAS tests to our internet streams. I'm guessing everybody else does the same.

Hence why they will have to do it again, and again, and again...

The system has been in place for decades. The gov requires us to test weekly, and always have. They have never tested their end until now. I don't have a problem with this, and nobody else should either.

The system needs to work at a national level. That's why we've been feeding the damn thing all these years.

Yep, I checked. 40 meters was still up during the "communications shutdown". Big deal!

If the system trips at the National level, I'm pretty sure you won't miss it. Most stations will go wall to wall news if they're still on the air. You make a good point.

Hell I am in the middle of Oak Ridge, they will just close the gates and fire up the air raid sirens. I won't miss it.

The only thing I don't know if I would be considered safe or food. So I don't plan to stick around this town in the unlikely event.
