First 9/11 and now 11/9. Whats the problem? Just a coincidence.

You know, they've gone 15 years without a nationwide test. Why now?

I don't trust Napolitano or Holder or . . . Obama as far as I can throw them.

They say it's one thing, and you find out it's another.

Exactly. We don't know if it will work in a real emergency. I'm not going into the boring details of how EAS works, but will say that there is a lot that can go wrong. The statewide tests originate in my building, an I'm responsible for the gear.

No conspiracy here.

Yep. Trying to take control of the minds of the children

Due to the complexity of the 21st century child's mind, I'm guessing it took you what? 15-20 minutes?

Because people have evolved such excellence at detecting patterns that they easily detect random patterns and then assign meaning to them-- Otherwise called superstition though it seems an integral operational component of an excellent perceptual mechanism and not really something to mock-- People can be fooled by self-generated fantasy but on the other hand people routinely avoid real dangers because they get a "bad feeling" about situations--

Just sayin, perhaps it is tone-deef public-relations to set a test date for 11/9 unless there are important technical reasons that 11/10 or 11/8 would be unacceptable test dates? Tone-deef kinda like buzzing NYC with Air Force 1 in order to take promotional pictures?

Also fueling the fire-- I don't have time to verify the claims, but in the past have heard allegations that some of the previous major terrorist attacks coincidentally happened at the same time as planned tests or security drills. Regardless whether that is really true, it feeds the paranoid meme to have a highly-publicised major test.

Who knows, such a well-publicised test date may even provide a perfect time for terrorists to mount any attack they may have in the works?

The test is today at 2:00 PM ET! :P:eek::panic:

Maybe :-). It will relay to the rest of the state via my uplink. Since Glen Beck did his show from one of our studios this morning, I would say, It's up to God. He will be gone by the time the test runs, but his presence will linger.

I thought the audio sounded terrible. There were 2-3 different feeds going in the background. It was close to unintelligible here.

It came that way from the primary entry point. Folks all over the country heard the same thing, if they heard any audio at all. As usual, the Gov'ment's stuff didn't work. Thanks for the radio check! You heard the same crap we did, which means our stuff worked fine.

Yep. Just confirmed by CBS.

I just read emails from our engineers all over the US. Some didn't get any audio at all. From what I've been told, the problems originated at FEMA. Imagine that!

A hightech government failure instead of a proven low-tech solution. You just cant beat Amateur Radio for emergency communications.

It was also a double tap here, saw it during Megan's airtime, she talked about it, alert kicks in, then back to Fox, then a minute or so later, the alert again.

There was an echo, sorta. There were additional tones under the audio. Depending on the audio level, some boxes may have handled it differently. The TV stations normally get a relay from one of the radio stations in town. The primary stations get it from our uplink (via satellite) if they're outside of the Nashville area.

We received a garbled mess, so that's what everybody got.

Guess it's no surprise that the gov't would mangle even a test run that was planned months in advance. Don't care to imagine if something happened for real.

I was listening to the radio over the internet. Didn't hear a thing. Maybe they better get Algore to look into this.

This is probably the cuprit, from the tons of chatter I'm getting from across the US...

I bet the main culprit is going to be determined to be Burk EAS units not properly ignoring duplicates during the test... and overlapping / creating loops. Based on what Mark Ness forwarded, that seems to be what happened in these cases where we were hearing all the background noise.
