 I just bought a Yugo SKS 59/66A1 still in packed in cosmoline. I got it all cleaned up "boy that was a job" and took it to the range. I was amazed at how accurate it was for that kind of gun. I bought two cases of Golden Tiger ammo so I won't run out any time soon. Here is a not very good picture. Don

I shot one for a while. Even handloaded for it for a time. The Yugo is pretty neat for reloaders; By shutting off the gas valve it essentially becomes a straight pull bolt action. Accuracy was really good considering all things. I eventually sold it, but I enjoyed it for sure.

Good score hawkeye, they are great rifles.

if you dont mind me asking what are these thing running now? i remember back when you could find one for 1-200 bucks. wasnt that long ago now that i think of it. i bought one in 2005 for $150. sold it in 2006 for $125 after i put about 1000 rounds of ammo through it. i checked around a few months ago (because i wouldnt mind having another) and the prices for these were lingering around 3-400 bucks....is that still the case?

Hells yeah on the Simonov. I've got a '53 Russian, love it. Truth be told, I have two Kalashnikovs but if the going got tough I wouldn't feel outgunned at all with just my SKS. With stripper clips you can load it up fast, and it's a pretty light, quick-handling rifle that's super simple to use. They aren't dirt cheap like they used to be but ~$300 is not unreasonable in my book. Darn good fighting rifles. Here's mine:

$300 to $400 for a nice SKS is about the going price. Mine was unfired since it was refurbished in 1985. A nice Russian will bring the most money. Don

I love my Norinco, too, even though it had been "bubba'd" when I got it, missing the original stock and receiver cover. Still, it is "battle accurate" and a heck of a lot of fun to shoot.

Not sure but I've heard and seen people with the 30 round conversion kits on sks and they were not very reliable all had failure to feed and eject problems.

There are several in this months issue of cheaper than dirt. They even have the dragonov type, the m4 type, and a monte carlo type.
