i hate that! the other night i had a Rutherford County sheriff get right up on my ass tailgating me. a quick hard tap of my brakes perfectly timed with a car that decided to pull out in front of me and poke along, quickly remedied that. he almost ate my bumper when I hit the brakes. im sure if it hadn't been for the fact that a car pulled out in front of me, he'd have probably pulled me over, lol.

Brake checking a law enforcement officer... brilliant tactic.

I can legally carry in Stones River Mall; and I do. Make sure you all write letters to the mall management explaining the law to them, so they make sure I can’t.

I agree. They know the laws and they aren’t posted; leave them alone. But when someone is open carrying, or as in this case someone sees the gun and complains; they need to act accordingly. Leaving those of us who carry concealed alone is better than posting.

Here's a glowing example of why the pro gun movement takes 2 steps forward and then 1 step back. Pro gun people more concerned with personal gain than overall gun rights for everyone.

If they get a complaint and are really are pro-gun they'll make the necessary repremands to their security staff. If they are anti-gun they'll post and Stones River can turn Hickory Hollow Mall. If they are anti-gun why on earth would you want to give them your money anyway?

Dave, I understand you're not an activist but you're certainly not helping.

I think what he's trying to say is that the mall owners are trying to have their cake and eat it too. They purposely don't legally post so that HCP holders can legally carry and patronize their mall. At the same time, they are caitering to the panicked masses by saying that their mall is "gun free".

I personally don't think that a business should have to be pro-gun or not. If I owned my own business I would be pro-money and that's it. My personal beliefs shouldn't have to matter; the only thing that matters is generating revenue. If an environment existed where patrons would not visit my establishment because of fear of the guy who's walking around OC'ing, guess what I'm gonna do? I'm gonna make a rule so that everyone is happy and I can get money from all parties.

Awesome. Another gun owner who puts money above human rights.

What if a business owner had said the same thing about a black person 50 years ago?

Or maybe a person who realizes that business owners have to live and operate in the real world where losing five customers just to keep one open carrying customer will result in putting up a sign of a different type. One with GOING OUT OF BUSINESS printed on it.

If a business posts a 'no carry' sign then I will avoid that business as much as possible. If a business doesn't want to post and isn't openly hostile to gun rights but prefers that I not open carry out of consideration for other customers then that works for me. For my part, I figure I need to be reasonable enough to not cause that non-posted business problems by scaring other customers away. Gun owners don't have to be Mr. Gun Activist everywhere they go. Sometimes it is okay to just compromise a little and be a guy who is carrying a concealed firearm, minding his own business and not causing a practical loss of rights by wanting to push their agenda.

Sorry, but that's reality. Your rights don't put food on my family's table. If I want to open a business and only allow people in who are wearing clown shoes and a red foam nose I can make that call. There are restaurants that don't allow children under a certain age because it's distracting to other patrons. Does that violate my rights to feed my kids? If someone thinks they'll lose money because someone is OC'ing at their establishment it would be STUPID to caiter to the needs of the OC'er over the general PAYING customer base. I don't have an MBA but I think those that do would agree with me. Businesses don't exist to be activists; they exist to make money.

You also have the right to free speech and religion. Do you think the mall would be infringing on your rights if you walked in there and started giving a sermon from the Book of Mormon and they told you to leave? It's private property bud.

Since it appears you didn't read the original post, the guy was kicked out for CONCEALED CARRYING.

Clearly it wasn't concealed well enough, since multiple people noticed.

The point is: people in this thread keep kidding themselves that the owners of Stones River Mall are not anti-gun because they have not posted yet insinuating that this means they are pro CC but against OC when they clearly kicked someone out CC'ing who just happened to have his gun briefly exposed in the parking lot.

If all things are equal I would choose a pro-gun business or an anti-gun business (assuming I would some how know).

Depending on the situation...I may even inconvenience myself to patronize a pro-gun business.

But many times there just aren't reasonable alternatives....

And you are a glowing example of someone that only cares about being an attention whore. You want to walk around like Billy J. Badazz letting everyone know you have a gun. Then you want to whine and cry about it when some says something about it.

You just learned which end of the barrel the bullet comes out of this year, and you are going to give me a lesson on “Pro Gun People? Get real.

I don’t think Stones River Mall is pro-gun, I just think they don’t want to post. Good for them; they continue to get my money because I can (and do) carry in there.

But go ahead… since you let us know you are the big “Gun Activist”, go on out there and walk around the mall open carrying. When they ask to leave you can make a big scene and come back here and whine and cry about it. Because it’s all about you, and its all or nothing about posting. Stones River mall is not posted Genius.

You know Dave, you just continue to show your true colors with the ad hominem name calling and immaturity. You also continue to show your bigotry by making everything an Open Carry issue. Clearly the OP was carrying concealed.

Not sure what you mean by the "just learned which end of the barrel the bullet comes out of this year" comment but I've been shooting since I was hold enough to hold a gun. I would be willing to bet that's longer than you have.

Well man, I don't think I did anything to provoke such a statement from you which generalizes that I hold money above human rights. Gun ownership isn't the only right I believe in. I also believe in property rights, such as on my property I can kick off anyone I want and I don't need a reason, but if that reason is because you are exercising your 1st, 2nd Amendment Rights I can do that. You don't have the right to keep and bear arms on MY PROPERTY if I say otherwise. Making generalities about me (unprovoked) which suggest I put money above all basic rights is an uneducated, stupid thing to say. I don't think it's something you would say to someone if you weren't behind a keyboard.

Unless you're DaveTN that statement was not pointed towards you. I respect your property rights. I've never insinuated otherwise. The whole point I'm making is that if you're anti-gun then I will not give you my business, and I don't see how anyone who is pro gun/pro 2A would either. If you make someone leave your business because they are protecting themselves by carrying a firearm, whether concealed or open (like Stones River Mall has) then you are clearly anti-gun, whether Dave fails to recognize that or not.

And anything I post on this board via keyboard I would certainly say in person as those here that have met me would tell you. I would be happy to debate any of this anytime in person. I have a feeling most on here wouldn't.

It doesn't look as if those words there are mixed. You said them and they were directed at me. It very clearly states that " another gun owner who puts money above human rights."

It's not easy to take your words out of context. You made a generalization about my nature based on my opinions on the rights of property owners. That is not a debate at all about the issue, that is an insult.

Don't worry, Kirk has had trouble in the past comprehending that people may have an opinion different than his.

The same can be said for most of us here. Kirk's welcome to voice his opinion as much as anyone else is. We just ask that folks do it respectfully and attack the issues, not each other.

I guess I don't understand the desire to go to the mall... Nothing there I can't order for less money online.

I'm finding more and more malls doing these silly kinds of things. I've pretty much swore them off accordingly.

I quit shopping at malls years ago. Too much materialistic garbage, frankly. Anything I need, I can get a lot cheaper online.

Granted, Sears (part of the Stones River mall) may be separate, but I open carry in there all the time and don't even draw any attention. A couple of weeks ago I was in there, bought a break piston spreader (ok that's irrelevant) and the lady checking me out was real nice and friendly, made no rush to get rid of me and didn't act awkwardly.

I think that:

-A lot of anti 2nd Amm's just ignore you and walk away (plus anti's dont shop the tool department LOL).

-People that are Pro 2nd Ammendment don't even think about the fact that you're carrying.

-I've had several people randomly assume (and ask me about it) that I was a detective or something.... which I am completely not.

So all around, I've never had anyone mess with me :-) And being pro-carry, when I see a pistol on someone's hip I find myself trying to casually get a better look.... "hey what model glock is that guy carrying?" hahaha Guess I figure if he's openly carrying a gun around he must be a "good guy" too and if any bad people come in the store he'll be on the same side of things :-)

Please do,

The only way I can see "Brake Cheking" some one to be a felony is if it caused an injury accident or death at which point the charge would not be "Brake Checking".
