I have Digital Home Package (Basic, Expanded Basic, on-screen guide) $61.99, Digital View Plus (?) $10, HD Ultra View $5, DVR rental $15, with DVR upgrade for HD $5 that totals t $96.99. Add 12 meg Internet at 44.99 and it comes to $141.98 plus $13.68 in taxes and Coffee Co fee for a grand total of $155.66. I could get this reduced by about $24 if I sign a 2 year agreement.

I might sign the agreement and up my internet to 18 meg--still save $15 a month. I have no choice as they are my only supplier unless I cut down a bunch of trees to go satelite. Don't want to do that since the trees are why we bought the property.

Suggestion: save the Direct and Dish adds you get and take them to the office to negoiate a reduction. Worked for me once.

I had them for almost 6 years. 2 years ago I fired them because their customer service was so incredibly bad. It was to the point that it wasn't worth it even if the service was half the price.

I am trying to find out what it cost after the new customer time is up and what the taxes are.

thanks if you can help.

My experience is that once your deal is up you call and raise //// and they offer you a new deal.

I will say that lately they sorta suck. They have taken lots of the maintenance of Internet out of the hands of the local engineers. It shows. I've been with them a long time, but lately I have been less than satisfied with their TV and Internet service.

YMMV

+1 threaten to go to satellite. And of the don't budge, actually go to satellite. They will give you the deal once you call to cancel. Unfortunately where I live in JC charter is the only option for cable. The only complaint I have is the Internet cuts out randomly, not often, but randomly.

We pay $114+tax/ fees is like $130, for phone, int, HD cable, no DVR.

+1 Charter will get no more of my money.

Not to steer too far off the OP's original ??, but has anyone used Dish or Direct for Internet service?

How does it stack up in terms of cost, service and I-speed? Any problems with loss of signal?

I used Direct for several years for TV, and liked it, and would like to get rid of Comcast.

I know a few folks who live out in the boonies and use Hughes satellite internet service. They say it's a little pricey, but reasonably reliable. With no other options they'll take what they can get.

I believe Dish and Direct simply partner with other web/phone providers and offer you a package deal. Who they partner with depends on what's available where you live (which in my case, is none).

I have Dish and ATT DSL. The cost is competitive (which is still too much IMO) but the service has been good. My only other option is Charter and I've already stated my opinion on them.
