I am looking for a place to get my hand gun certification. Where is a decent place in preferably south Nashville/Antioch/La vergne/Smyrna area to take the class. I have found Gun City USA but seems a little expensive at $150....

I took my class over at the Williamson County Sheriffs Dept. I think it was $80 for an 8 hour class. it may not be the very cheapest, but in a course like this, I wouldn't pay that much attention to the price. They are the greatest bunch of guys. I promise, you'll spend more time laughing than anything else. They really make the time go by quickly.

All of the instructors were either currently involved with the Sheriffs Dept, or retired. They were very knowledgable and helpful. If you don;t know something, they won't make you feel like an idiot.

Good luck.

Not in south Nashville, but I teach the Carry Permit classes at ASP in Joelton. Our class is $100, but includes the necessary ammo, and use of a rental gun, if one is needed.

Can't speak for the others but the class Frank teaches at ASP is great, he knows his stuff, keeps it interesting, and I reccomend his class and ASP to anyone without reservation. Don't let him infect you with black rifle disease or NFA disease as you will soon be broke.

I second Frank and his teaching ability.

Were running classes every weekend for the next two months straight. Im booked every weekend except... I had to reschedule a couple Metro fire employees on the 5th of April... So have 1-2 slots opened up in that class. I also have a few spots in the 19th and 26th of April. If you want to get into a class we require prepayment and preregistration, and you can use a card over the phone to reserve a spot. Remember, those spots will probably be gone by tomorrow evening. We have been teaching the permit class longer then anyone in the state, so we usually stay booked a month in advance. If you have a group, I have several State Instructors on staff and can arange a private class during the week if the weekend doesnt work.

Give me a call if we can help.

Thanks,

If you are willing to drive to Springfield then The Second Amendment Gun Shop does them on Sundays and it cost $50 and was a pretty good class also Guns & Leather in Greenbrier.

well, and I hate to really advertise... but if its not too far give us a call, our class is $75 and done in one Sat. evening.

If it's not too nosey for me to ask, how late does your class run? If it's the 8 hour class, are you actually there beyond midnight, or have I read that wrong?

Not at all, we usually start at 11am and get done around 7pm-8pm... this depends on of the students want a longer lunch/dinner break or just snack during class. Most grap a snack and want to get out sooner rather then later.

Oh ok, I did read it wrong. I was thinking the class began in the evening.
