Help Identify Pinfire Revolver

Recommended Posts

A friend of mine just acquired an old pinfire revolver and is unsure of what it is. He thinks it may be a French LeMat. The bore size is approximately 7.5mm. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

I'd guess it's a Lefaucheux 7mm, or perhaps more likely, a Belgium copy. Interesting gun!

I hope this will get you googling in the right direction. Let us know what you learn.

The third photo shows a Liege, Belgium proofmark. More evidence it's probably a Lefaucheux. Good luck finding cartridges. They are a collector's item and hard to find.

How carefully did you measure it, or is it stamped with the caliber? There are a number of slightly larger calibers that you might use to craft ammo, between 7.6 and 7.8 mm.

Not stamped, just stuck a set of calipers in the bore and cylinder. It measured about 7.55. Wasn't really trying for accuracy, just close enough to identify. I doubt he will ever try to shoot it. He will probably just try to sell to a collector.
