I've got the equivalent rifle in .17HMR. It's one of my favorite rifles. With the acu-trigger from the factory, good glass and a decent bipod, the rifle should be more than capable of doing anything that you can reasonably expect from a rimfire.

Mine has really far exceeded my expectations.

I have the blue version (BTV) and can't brag on it enough. Excellent rifle. Crazy accurate and the heavy barrel maintains accuracy during a long day at the range...even with bulk ammo.

Like MacGyver said, get a decent scope and bipod. You'll want to pick up several of the 10 round mags also. It only comes with one 5 rounder which is absurd.

Savage makes very accurate rifles at a great price. I have a Savage 7 rem mag that is great. I have shot the 17HMR versions of the Savage rimfire. The 17HMR Savages are extremely accurate.
