Want to get FFL license

Recommended Posts

Not sure if this is the right area to post this but here goes. I am wanting to get my FFL license since I buy/sell so many firearms. Also to do transfers for my fellow TGO members and more without any hassle.

What are the basic requirements to get my FFL? What do I need to know? Do I need a storefront or something?

There are plenty of threads on here about it, but it’s almost impossible anymore unless you want to open a real gun store. First thing is to check your city codes. That stops you right there in many cities from having it in your home.

An FFL only costs $200; most of us would have one if it was as simple as buying one; I know I would.

Not so much a gun store.... id like to open a pawn shop and have the ability to sell firearms and do transfers.

Then you need a store and a pawn license. If you have a building, a business, and it’s zoned by your city to allow you to have a gun business; you could probably get one. I’m afraid the days of paying $200 and having a safe in your house are gone.

Several on here have said they were going to do it, but I haven't seen any new dealers yet. Maybe they will chime in as to why. I can’t have a business in my home in Murfreesboro.

I live outside of city limits, it is possible for me to get one the only hurdle that I cannot get through is that I need to meet with a county appeals board to get permission for zoning, problem is I am always out of the country when these meetings occur

I am still trying to get this done so I will keep you all posted

Commercial property is relatively easy. DaveTN said this has been asked soooo many times. And I beleive its usually him and I that always get sucked into answer.

Go to your zoning board officials for your first step. You'll know right then and there if its your intent to do it at a residential zoned property. No need to go further without stopping in and asking with them first.

Getting a Pawn Broker License will make getting a FFL look like childs play...

Sounds like you need to do some real research...
