Restraining Orders

I'm posting this here because I consider it to be a subset of "Self Defense" ... from a legal standpoint.

What is the proper method of obtaining a restraining order against as person in the state of Tennessee? And is there a difference between a restraining order and an Emergency Protection Order?

Thanks.

I can tell you all about them. I was served this morning with one for a woman I have never even seen.

They cost about $162 to file. The order if signed by a judge(probably will be because there is probably a lot of exagerating) will be valid as soon as you are served the civil process. There will be a court date in general sessions court so the judge can hear your side of the story. If the judge doesn't like you they can get the order to be in effect for a year, I think it expires after that. Any contact invited or not is a violation of the order and at that point is a criminal offense.
