Walmart CRKT ripple

Recommended Posts

I've wanted a CRKT ripple knife for a while, just didn't want to lay out the buck around $ 70 on Ebay suggested retail $125. I see where Wally World is now carry them now for $39.99. Its a cheaper version. but never the less decent knife for the money. I've bashed wally world so bad on a couple of other threads that I not going to give in. But at good example of how what you get at at wally is not what it apears to be.

I looked at specs on both links, but I don't get your point. How is Wally's version different?

Ah, IC, 420J2 steel vs aluminum handle in those two examples, however, CKRT prominently shows the WalMart version also on their site, so doesn't seem there's anything particularly sneaky about it:

I think blade quality is different, taiwan crkt vs china wally. Titatinum "spelling" instead of aluminum frame, frame lock vs liner lock. I watched some stuff on youtube until I got bored but they spell out the difference. Half the price for EDC, I just wished somebody besides walmart had 'em I saw one on another forum new in box for $35 shipped

I think blade quality is different, ...

Specs on CRKT clearly show 8CR14MoV (generally indicates PRC manufacture, but it's a quite capable knife steel) vs "Acuto+", which I'd never heard of, but compositon is shown here:

Maybe you should just get a Wally Skyline, same knife anywhere, and USA made. :yum:

(CRKT offers nada made in USA; however Kershaw is owned by Japanese corporation)

Nothing new here. Wal-mart regularly encourages companies like "Levi" (or whatever brand name jeans they keep in stock) to outsource their product of jeans that go to Walmart to ensure that the cost remains under what Wal-mart plans to sell them so that both companies can make a profit. It's why most brand name things that are specially made for walmart have differences compared to the brand name product in other stores.
