Proper knife care

Imagine, for a moment, that you've had knives for some time but they were all of the cheaper kinds. Not bottom of the barrel, but 40 bucks top. If you are this completely fictitious person you've never thought of really taking care of your knives except for wiping the blood off after your daily knife fighting sessions. Cause who doesn't have some daily sparring with knives

Anyway, because you are also stupid, you got a little wrapped up in the knife thing and inexplicably bought some more expensive knives. Not super high end stuff, may a couple of zero tolerances or something. Suddenly you realize that you have no idea how to take care of these sweet, sweet folders.

You're lucky though, that was all a horrible dream. You're a TGOer knife person. You know how to take care of knives. So what do you do to keep your knives in a high functioning capacity? Oil them regularly? What kind of oil? Take them apart on occasion? Clean them?

Thanks for your expertise cause I have none.
