Good seafood in Orlando?

The wife and I are taking a belated 10th anniversary long-ish weekend in Orlando. We'll be doing Disney and the Kennedy Space Center among a few other things. We're simple folk who like seafood. Posh surroundings don't really impress me, good food at reasonable prices does. Where should we eat? :D

When you're in Titusville at the space center, look up Dixie Crossroads. It is across the river from the space center about a mile west of US 1. Anyone should be able to tell you how to find it. It has been a long time favorite of our family. I think they have a website now.

Downtown Disney Westside is a great area for restaurants and activities. It's a little touristy, but I lived in Orlando for a couple of years and still went down there for a good time as opposed to the attractions. I haven't been down there for almost 10 years but I assume it's mostly the same.

I've yet to have any seafood since I moved down here but I can tell you that Garibaldi's is excellent mexican food at reasonable prices.

And I just want to point out that there is a LOT of crime down here. I expect you will be armed? Also, you can't carry into the bar area of a restaurant but you can sit in the dining room. Not that anyone would know but just keep that in mind.

I will second the suggestion to Dixie Crossroads. Try their rock shrimp. It has been quite a few years since I lived in the area but there was usually a long wait just to get seated.

Got a friend from another forum who lives in Orlando and agrees with you on the crime thing. He has had to draw his weapon several times. Never had to fire, but has had to clear leather. I used to live in Kissimmee/Orlando back in the mid-seventies and it was an entirely different place then. I have no desire to ever go there again.

Stay safe.

Love me some mexican food too!

Honestly, I'm still somewhat on the fence whether to just carry my OC/bear spray or take the gun too. Also can't carry into Disney or Kennedy.

Thanks for the Dixie Crossroads recommendation, it was excellent!

We had a great trip and walked the requisite 900 miles around Disney. I was also able to knock one thing off my bucket list, but I'll post up about that later. :)

check out the seafood places on Dr. Phillips Blvd. I noticed there are 2-3 on that road that look really nice. One is called Moonfish!

And give me a shout if you want to grab lunch one day while the woman is shopping!!!

Thanks for the offer but we're already there and back again. We stayed on 192, a mile or two from the Disney entrance.
