Shot my S&W 329PD this weekend

My daughter and I went out and did a little plinking this weekend. Mostly we were shooting .22s. We did shoot my 329 a little. This is the scandium alloy frame 44mag. Very light weight. It was great to shoot with .44 specials. The recoil was very manageable. My 14 yo daughter and I had no problem getting 3" groups offhand at 25 feet. We then tried some .44 mag rounds. WOW. Talk about a hand cannon. The recoil was impressive. I felt it most in the web of my hand and wrist. The muzzle flip was quite intense and it put a lot of torque on the wrist.

My daughter wanted to try one of the 44 mag rounds. Although she was a little scared she really wanted to shoot it. She didn't hit the target, I think here eyes were closed, but she did hold onto the gun. I was impressed. I was standing behind her just in case the pistol came flying back over here head.:) One shot was enough for her. All in all, we had a great time and threw a lot of lead down range.

Haha...nice bonding trip. One of my friends has some collectors edition SW(could be colt) that his Grandfather left him when he passed away. The only request left by his grandfather was that he shot it at least once. He fired 3rds and I fired 3rds of 44mag...that was enough for us.

The 329PD is going to be my next gun, assuming I can find one for a decent price.

I handled one several years that belonged to a friend. I fell in love with it right then and there. $$$ and other reasons kept me from buying it before now.

Got any pics of your 329? What grips do you have on it, the S&W wooden or rubber ones? I hear the best grips to put on them are the S&W rubber grips for the 500 X-frame gun, about $30 at the S&W site.

Thanks,

Al
