I bought Jollydogg's MarkIII yesterday and it was a nice replacement for the one that I sold years ago. Always regretted that sale, but I guess that's ok.

I know that Ruger packs their guns with a too heavy of an oil/grease from the factory, so last night when I was sure that I would have no disruptions, I proceeded to dissassemble the gun, clean, oil, and reassemble it. Man! How I had forgotten how difficult this little job could be! I've got a couple of new holes in my fingers; one of which is from the very sharp sight on the muzzle! Thank goodness for YouTube for their help in reassembling! The manual is pretty clear, but it helps to actually see what's suppose to happen. (I thought I could do it from memory, but it seems that over the past 25 years... I must have forgotten something. )

It's a nice little pistol and I can't wait to get out to shoot it.

Agreed, the MK series is among the nicest .22 pistols, but by far the hardest gun I've ever field stripped! We took a MK III all the way apart to duracoat. Thought it was never going back together.

have one and it is my favorite range gun. I put a HiViz front sight on it and a couple layers of bicycle innertube around the grip, can't imagine ever changing anything else on it.

Can't imagine I will ever field strip it again unless it quits running. The three times I have done it I always asked myself about what was gained by doing it.

Love the Mark II, never shot a Mark III ... but am itching for a Beretta U22 Neos. Roughly the same quality gun, slightly better price and a built in rail.

the Neos is not in the same league as a Ruger. Trigger is not near as good on a Neos. A rail comes with the Ruger and easily is attached or removed as need be. Ot just attach it and leave it on if you so choose.

I have a Neos and totally agree, trigger sucks. It may be just as accurate as a MK, but we'll never know because there's no way to hold it on target as well with the clunky trigger pull.

Mine happened to be a lemon too, took two trips to Beretta (whose shipping policy sucks) to get right, but admittedly that seems to be quite the rare case.

Comes apart and back together in about 1 min flat, though.

I had faith for a long time that your trigger on the Beretta would smooth out. But it never really has. Runs good though.

It is still a nice plinker and a unique looking auto loading .22

The Neos definitely gets the nod for ease in field stripping and reassembly.

The neos does have one of the best factory sets of iron sights on a pistol....they are about perfect in size and proportion.

The MKIII trigger sucks too. I changed mine out to a Volquartsen Accurizer. Big improvement.

Did Ruger change something about the trigger on the MKIII?

Would be hard pressed to find a better 22 than the Mk. Even if they are hard to disassemble....

I don't really know on that one. I have shot a MK II, and I thought the trigger was great. When I bought my MK III Hunter, I thought the trigger was lousy. Even the dealer who sold it to me said I probably wouldn't like the trigger, but that I should break it in. I tried, but it was a no go for me. I bought the Accurizing kit, and now it is good trigger. Not as good as a Model 41, but still good. I had written a review on comparing my MKIII and my Model 41.

+1 on the Volguartsen Accurizer Kit for the Mark lll and while you have it all apart put a Mark ll trigger bushing in and get rid of the mag safety disconect.[/img]

I sent my Mark III for Volquartsen to have it Farfegnugened. It is now a Mark II with a 3 lb trigger. Awesome, but not cheap.
