Xd .45 is great, I have not shot the FNP-40 yet, may sell it.

I'd like to hear which one you prefer, after shooting them side by side. I've messed with an FNP-9, and it compared well with the XD on the range... didn't really care for the initial DA trigger-pull though.

I've had an XD-9 Service and most recently the FNP-9. I sold the XD cause I really like the FNP. Either way you will enjoy. Congrats!

The XD trigger pull takes a bit of getting use to. especially if you are used to a hair trigger like on some revolvers when the hammer is cocked. the trigger to me gives you a short very short bit of time to release it if you do not need to fire IMO. On the other hand the bit of a delay could be bad also.

I am going to add night sites and I am considering a trigger job for my XD .45.

In the Safety class they say the studies show a person carring a knife from 21 feet can kill you before you can draw your weapon and get off a good shot. I got the FNP-40 after reading about them for months on some forums.

Heard lots of great things about them, I would use it for home defense but changed my mind about using it for a carry gun. Now I have been looking at the FNP-45, which has many features for me being left handed. I may get it to keep at home, my carry gun will be my XD, I did not shoot this gun until my safety class the recoil was not as bad as I thought it would be. I do not have very large hands and the XD feels great. Now Mind you I have not carried this gun day in and day out. It is heavier than the FNP-40 and larger. The FNP compacts are good to carry. I wished I would not have sold my Kel-Tec P11 9MM so I could have it in my truck as well.

I have spoke with some EX law officers since I got it and they hated the Fnp's when their department issued them.

the FNP-40 comes with 3, 14 round mags

XD's only come with 2, 13 round mags.

Which one? I didn't know any of those had been issued.

They look like Pachmayr. I have those on mine and love extra grip and comfort.

I'm really tempted by the FNP .357. They look great, but I've not seen or handled one in person.
