Look for a custom maker. Kim Breed or Gary Walker both live in Clarksville. Both retired SF and great guys. Gary is a new member. You might be surprised at the prices they both offer.

Cheers,

i like the look feel and style of the Boker Plus Elegance Bob but dont like the price for AUS-8.

You realize that all the Boker Plus (and the Magnum) line is made in PRC, right?

Thought I'd mention since you said "another American made knife" in case you didn't know.

Really in that price range, you could go out and get a custom made and have a much better blade than a Boker or even a TOPS. Blind Horse Knives, Sugar Creek, Paul Moore and Rick Marchand come to mind quickly as does Turley Knives.

Kershaw knives are US made....also i think Mission Knives are too

it sounds silly, but you might want to check wal-mart for Kershaws....i recently scooped up a skyline at the maryville/alcoa one for $30!

Correction,

The Best Kershaw knives (Zero Tolerance and some others) are US made however several of their lower end models are made in China and Japan

If you don't mind spending a little bit of money, I would recommend a Chris Reeve Nyala. It isn't overly expensive ($200 - 230, or less if you pick up a good used one), and you will definitely have a top quality knife. It has similiar in dimensions to the Boker Elegance Bob.

Since I didn't want to steal someone else's picture. I will just post a link that has a good photo.

Yeah, most everything under $30 street price is PRC. Pretty good stuff, though. I really like the Compound, and the Clash is the poor man's ZT0350. Oso Sweet very nice for the price, but grip just a bit short in the hand for me.

The Skyline Magic mentioned is US made.

Kershaw is owned by Japanese company KAI, btw.

What are the specs on that one? You can also look at Busse, Swamp Rat and Scrapyard. All American made.

Boker offers Fixed blade knife Boker Plus Elegance Bob by Boker Plus as Outdoor knives.

Some of these Boker Plus offerings are quite nice, though.

I got the Mosier; had hoped it would be my next necker, but just turned out to be too heavy, but what a nice knife for the bucks (little over $50):
