carry in municipal buildings?

I was wondering if municipal buildings have to post, or if they can make some law banning carry but then not post it. I would think they would have to post, but being that they are the government I'm not counting on them having to play by the same rules as private businesses. I live in Mount Juliet and was heading to the county clerks office in a little bit and it made me wonder.

Local, county, and state buildings have to post just like everyone else.

Just don't count on them playing by the rules. I would call ahead as I doubt they will be reasonable about it. The building I work in has a big green sign with lots and lots of words on that basically say only cops and the property guards assigned there can carry. Point being it would be real easy not realize it isn't a anti-litter law sign or some such if you didn't actually read past all the legal gibberish.

It's our duty as responsible HCP holders to "read past all the legal gibberish" and determine whether or not we can legally carry there. I know I stop for 10 seconds or so at most every entrance I pass through to look at all the little stickers and papers on the glass, first and foremost to protect my HCP and secondly to ensure that I am reflecting well on the gun community by obeying the law.

All that aside, when to the county clerk's office OCing and had no issues.

I don't think he was trying to imply to not be responsible or carry illegally.

Just that some signs, despite the law requiring them to be plainly visable and contain certain wording, aren't also so and can be easily missed if not closely read.

Very few buildings have signs that conform with state law. If you have to stop and read the fine print of a sign, then the sign is probably not legal. If it is not legal, then keep your handgun concealed and don't worry about it. The worst that can happen is you will be asked to leave. That is not a criminal offense.
