Question for Strickj or other Mossberg 500 owner.

I just purchased a slightly used Mossberg 500. Of course it had no manual or other factory papers. It looks like it may have been shot 2 or 3 times at the most. Right now it is wearing the tuff-guy pistol grip. How do I swap out the pistol grip for the regular shoulder stock?

My pistol grip has a snap on button in the rear that once popped off, turns you inside to where there's an allen screw.

Thats why I ask.If its a plain pistol grip, just pop thet off.If it has a collapsible stock then theres a small screw to un screew then you get to the allen head

Just a plain pistol grip. Allen screw is visible. Just unscrew it I understand. How does full length stock attatch?

It takes a 1/4 allen wrench to remove the bolt

How does full length stock attatch?

From inside the receiver using the same hole(ithink)

Does that make since?

If i am thinking right,it screws in to the stock from inside, while the pistol grip screws in from the out side

Pulled out shoulder stock and noticed a rattle inside. Unscrewed the recoil pad and found ziplock with allen wrench and long bolt inside. Bolt threads in from rear of buttstock I just have to find a long screwdriver to get it good and tight. Thanks for the help.

Welp lets say I was 75% right since I say how to remove the pistol grip, and said the stock srews in.Thats 2/3 correct. Me only wrong on how it screws in.

My bills in the mail

I just put the regular shoulder stock on for now. I will have to be on the lookout for a folder of some sort when my wallet revives itself.

Oh yeah, the checks in the mail!

Ohh,just incase you did not already know.Mossberg puts little wooden dowels in the mag tube to limit the capacity for those brady states.May want to look to make sure it has been removed.

Hadn't thought of that, since I don't have any shells right now. Thanks for the heads up. I'll go check it!

Left the pistol grip on mine seeing how its a short barrel with the Breaching Tip. Good for manuevering around my small apartment if the need ever arises. I am interested in these wooden dowels since I bought mine new. Any more info on removing those?

If you can fill your magazine tube with 7 shells you don't have a plug. I think they are usually plugged to hold 3 or 4 shells maximum.

I have a 5 shell as well. Seeing that it is a shorter gun, thats probably max.

DO NOT THROW AWAY THE MAG PLUG!!!!!

If you ever take the gun into the field, to shoot birds, bears, turkeys, snakes, illegal immigrants, you canr have more than a three shot capacity, waterfowl rule of some sort18.5" barrel holds 5, 20: barrel holds 7
