Those trees must be preserved, however, the attack on gibson is moronic. They DO cut the trees some, and sell the wood, when one is diseased or they have enough to harvest some etc. This is on par with going after an antique shop/pawn shop for selling a set of ivory dice that were purchased in an estate sale. Who knows when or where the ivory came from .... but legal or not, I can assure you the 2 bit pawn shop clerk didnt go to africa to buy it from the black market or kill the animal himself. They are going after the symptoms instead of the problem, which is business as usual in our country.

The trees ARE being preserved. In both cases the wood was received with the full knowledge and approval of the governments of India (this raid) and of Madagascar (the 2009 raid). To me there are two very important points coming out of this.

First: In the latest raid, the US government was using THEIR interpretation of Indian law to claim illegality when Gibson has documentation from the Indian government declaring that the transaction is in compliance of their laws. What...the Indians can't interpret their laws better than the US can?

Second: The government has done absolutely NOTHING to the other custom instrument makers who use the same wood from the same broker and from the same source. The only difference is that Gibson supports the Republican party, and the other manufacturers support the Democrats.

Just heard today that the Gov. has given 750 million to a solar company owned by Nancy Pelosi's brother in law.

:shrug:OK folks clear out. Nothing to see here:rolleyes:

Yeah, deadline for energy stimulus funds came up, DOE hurried a bunch through at last minute. This was just one of them.

Actually, I think it's 750 mil loan guarantee, dunno if they get it all in one pop, but imagine one way or the other it will indeed go down the EcoToilet into a relatively few pockets with all the rest.
