My new toy

Hey everybody! Haven't posted in a while and figured I'd stop by and tell everybody about my new purchase. I went to see Harvey at H&H yesterday and walked out with a Citadel M1911 A1 FS handgun with ambidextrous safety and brushed nickel finish. Beaufitul gun! Can't wait to try her out! I'll be sure and let everybody know how she handles when I take her for a practice shoot. So far she seems like a rock solid 1911, and I'm encouraged by all the positive reviews out there about Citadels. For the price, I don't think it can be beat!

Good entry level and beyond 1911 A1 platform for you to work with that should get you in business soon. Most likely over time you’ll consider upgrading the sights and tweaking it a bit for one reason or another. Everything is available parts wise, DIY wise or skilled gunsmith wise, just don’t get in any hurry until you get your pistol well broken in and you feel comfortable with it. It’s always a pleasure to read about someone else getting a new 1911 pistol.

Congrats on the 1911! I was actually poking fun at my friend because we both wanted to get 1911s so I sent him a picture of my new 1911 in the box. He responded with "That's neat" and then showed me a picture of his Citadel 1911. Keeping up with the Jones' huh?

Good advice, I keep wanting to go ahead and mod mine but I haven't got to shoot mine yet.

That is a great looking 1911 A1, I love those grips, don't leave it next to me at the range or you'll come back and find a different set of grips on your 1911 A1! :-)

Lol, thanks! I'll be sure and take your advice. He had a RIA, same company, a step down and with a parkerized finish. It just didn't fit my hand the same. I love the feel of it!

Anybody had any experience with rounds not wanting to feed from the mag when full. Mine isn't wanting to do so until there is only 4 rounds left. Is there a fix for this?

Posted

Could you give a little more information:Such as; Is the mag in the pistol when this happens or are you testing it out of the pistol?

Is it only with one mag or with several? Are you using ball or hollow point ammo?

I'm not being a smart a**, just asking because you might need your feed ramp polished or just a different mag. Even better it might be a hollow point round your pistol doesn't like but another will work fine?

You're fine. I have 2 stock mags. One with hollow points the other regular. I'm thinking by PMC. It's while in the handgun. Looks like it is being pushed down into the wall of the gun instead of up into the chamber. It does feel real tight putting ammo in and taking it out while out of the gun. Might be an overly tight spring, brand of ammo or the bend pieces that holds the ammo in.

OK, good discription of what your seeing. Borrow some good mags and try them first, then if you need to get someone to inspect the pistol. I promise you it will not be anything major, just minor fitting at the worst. That's one of the thing's about 1911's they take a little tweaking sometimes to get them running.

Doing better after I took some 600 grit to the injector port. Might take a round file to it to help smooth and shape it.
