Change of address?

I just had a thought (yes it hurt). We moved recently. I changed my address online with TN.gov and by my understanding don't need to update my driver's license until it's time to renew. What happens next time I go to fill out a 4473? My license address won't match my legal address. Any gun dealers or knowledgeable folks able to chime in here?

Once you change your address on TN.gov print out the copy from it, fold it and keep it with your DL until you get a new DL.

Fred,

I have went through that a few times and had no issues with it, Having said that I would go to the DMV as soon as possible to change your address so it matches your Drivers license I have had issues with it with other things in the past not having my Drivers license address not matching my current one

If you have changed your address online that updates the TDOS computer systems for your address. So if your license or HCP permit was ran it would come back to your newest updated address. You don't have to keep a paper copy of the confirmation unless you just really want to.

I assume you mean you changed your address online through TN Dept of Safety address change online? If so the above would apply.

You need to carry the paper with you until you renew your DL. Mostly for getting a ticket, or not getting, purpose. Changing the address on the ID is $12 bucks at the DMV.

Make sure you put the new address on the gun form. Shouldnt be an issue with the store. If so, show them the paper.

When buying a firearm, you will need some type of government document (DL, HCP, car registration, voter registration, etc..) showing your current address. Without something showing the address you put on the 4473, you will not be sold a firearm.

The easiest thing to do is: go back online to the TN website. Do a change of address again to your new address. Print off a copy of the confirmation page, and carry it with you in your wallet. That page will suffice as proof of your new address.
