In California, it is a "may" carry state if I am correct and it is difficult to get a permit to CC. So, it forces people to have to open carry with the gun unloaded if they want to carry at all. That state is totally insane.

now that's just stupid...what's the point if you can't carry it loaded? not even worth the effort or the hassle.

Looks like that "right" will be gone as well.

Well I dont think California allows carrying ASPs or other weapons like that, so that must be their way of at least allowing you to legally carry something around that you can pull out & bash the bad guy with..... ;)

Actually in California, if I understood all I have read correctly, Unarmed Open Carry, allows you to carry the weapon in an unloaded state while having loaded magazines on your person as well.

yes that 'was' correct. It's my understanding that they recently just lost that right. Unfortunate for them.

Probably. The bill is still on Moonbeam's desk. Looking like he'll let it become law without signing it.

Activists are already talking about carrying unloaded long guns now, which the bill did not address.

Ya, I missed your first post. I thought it had already passed. Depressing state they live in.

You can't carry a loaded gun but you can carry a loaded magazine separate from the gun. If needed, you can load the magazine in the gun and chamber. Not ideal but better than not being armed at all.

I think this will ultimately be good for California. With no viable option for the average Californian to have armed self defense lawsuits pushing for Shall Issue CCW can gain better traction, resulting in better laws. If memory serves that's what was recently rejected by a judge who said, basically, that SI CCW was not needed because one could UOC. Now one cannot.

Still not final, btw. Moonbeam could veto it, and legislature apparantly doesn't have 2/3 to overturn it -- seems to have till Oct. 8. He'll probably let it become law without signing though, is my guess.
