Foubd this on the NRA site and thought it is a good drill.

The Dot Drill (24 shots)

I strongly believe that most defensive handgun practice should start with the gun holstered. This lets you practice your draw stroke or handgun presentation more frequently. When practicing basic skills most shooters draw the handgun only once and burn through an entire magazine before they holster again, if at all, which wastes precious opportunities to practice handgun presentation.

Position a target with six 2-inch circles at between 5 and 7 yards. Shoot one shot at each circle, drawing the handgun from the holster before each shot. The goal is to fire one shot at each circle and hit each target once. This is not a speed drill, but rather it’s an accuracy and gun-handling drill to help you establish a foundation for gun presentation, sight alignment and trigger control. Conduct this drill four times at the beginning of every trip to the range.

I agree, very good to do. After all, you have to be able to draw before you can shot. Practice makes perfect (or at least better).

If only my range allowed you to draw from a holster while shooting...

Yeah, I think that's the biggest hurdle for most people.... all though watching how some other people handle their guns at the range I think I'd rather keep the range rules the way they are....

There are enough TWR ranges through out the state to set up and run this scenario. Just try and find a day where there is no activity .

The range I go to in Atlanta allows certain people to draw from the holster. They have to pass a test to do it, which seems like a good idea but it leaves a lot of gray room. I always wonder if people have actually taken the test and passed or if they are just doing it Because I've seen two or three people looking a little green.

If you're talking about RangeUSA, you can. Provided you've been thru a couple of their advanced courses. I forget which ones, but they'll be happy to tell you.

Sounds like as good a reason as any to get some extra training.
