Just replace the word "Zombie" with what you would call an end to civilized society. Be it an economic collapse, natural disaster (Katrina) or some form of mass hysteria resulting from a shortage of food, gas or much needed day to day supplies. Society on a whole is on the verge of collapse leaning one direction or the other and its these things that you have to keep in mind when preparing for what could be anything from a week of shortages, power (electricity) or a controlled government. People tend to turn into animals when their basic daily needs are not met.....spend some time in Iraq, Afghanistan and see just how easy it is to upset the balance of living with just one minor incident.....people will do what they have to to survive.

The ones that didn't prepare are the ones that will want what you have and will use any means possible to attain those said needs. Just how far are you willing to go to protect whats yours, be it family, food or shelter. Here is where you decide if you are going to trust the people in charge with your life and their promises to care for you as you get placed into camps or are you going to take care of yourself and prepare to defend what you have set aside as yours. There is safety in numbers but it requires a like mindset to survive in these kind of situations. Rogue bandits will form (i.e. Katrina) and will roam relentlessly searching for what is not theirs. Are you prepared to convince them otherwise should you encounter these kinds of people? This stuff has happened before, study it and learn from it....hope for the future but prepare for the worse.
