Used cars in Knoxville?

Howdy everyone,

I am taking my girlfriend car shopping tomorrow in Knoxville. Long story short, she was in an accident (not her fault) and insurance has paid out, but we need to get her a car fast. I am not really up to speed on the used market in Knoxville (and surrounding areas) as to who is reputable, and who isn't. I realize I am dealing with used car lots here, but I am trying to get her the best deal with the least BS. We are looking for a vehicle around $6500, preferably a 2 or 4 door car that gets decent gas mileage FWIW. So, does anyone have any advice for places to check? She is thinking Ole' Ben Franklin. I have heard both good and bad things, so I am skeptical.

I will run by tomorrow or give him a call. I totally forgot that cars are his line of work. He is an excellent guy to deal with. Thanks for the pointer fellas!

Not to badmouth magic at all, and this is in NO way directed at him as I've never dealt with him, and have only heard good things, but if you have cash I'd look at privately owned cars first. Most dealers in tn in my experience read that part of the blue book that says "dealer price" and overlook the small print that says "this assumes a reconditioned vehicle". Generally they take them in, clean them up, double the private party price, and thats about it seeing as tn dealers don't have to warranty their vehicles. Basically if you find the guy that traded it in before he does you can get the same car for 2 grand less and spent an hour cleaning it up...

I bought my '05 Ford Ranger from a used car joint in South Knox this past February for $3500. I has a couple minor dings and scratches, but I feel I got a heck of a deal. Good deals can certainly be found. Bad deals as well.

I like magic as well. I bought a gun from him awhile back. But I also am friends with the owners of this place:

www.nationalautowarehouse.com

I bought a car from them a few years ago and I wouldn't hesitate to buy from them again. Their business model a little different in that they sell mainly online and on ebay. They don't spend a lot of money for street frontage at a major intersection since they sell all over. They price the cars competively and don't waste time with any high pressure sales tactics. I'd say check with Magic, check with them and then see who's got what you're looking for... Happy shopping.
