This would be funny if it weren't so ridiculous!

Well; he is a very "Republican Republican"; he just isn't and never was and never will be a "conservative".

It's true that as a whole, most "conservatives" identify themselves with or at least vote with "Republicans" but there are plenty of Republicans, especially those in leadership and/or who have been politicians or in office for a long time who, even if they started out as conservatives, become less and less so over time. It seems to be a disease that affects everyone who works in Washington D.C. and the longer the exposure, the worse the infection gets!. Once a person is infected, it probably can't be cured - the only known treatment is voting the infected out of office.

This is one area where I think our founders may have failed us simply because they didn't and likely couldn't foresee the concept of a "career politician"...if you simply live a conventional life, then serve in a state or federal government office for a time and then go home; the disease doesn't have time to take hold...make a "career" of being a politician; especially if you've never done anything else and the infection rate is almost 100%. ;)

I think we can see this happen with Marsha Blackburn (I think Diane Black was already infected before she got to D.C.) and it's probably time to bring both of these congresswomen home at the next available opportunity.

Bottom line is, a true conservative, and for that matter, anyone who lives their lives based on real principles, doesn't have building a "consensus" as a goal...Alexander doesn't understand that; neither does McCain.

I get what you're saying, but I immediately thought of his votes agains't the party to move Democratic candidates through the process rather than continuing to block them as very much anti-Republican. I almost choked when I read that comment.

Wouldn't surprise me if this was a precursor to a party change.

Sent from here.

that is the first thing I thought when I read the story this afternoon. I wish he would just retire.

Is Lamar a Republican? ;)

No he's a "very Republican Republican"

No, that would be the stake in the heart of his re-election, and Reid can not do without him.

I'd sure like to see a Conservative run against him. I promised him a few years ago that I'd never vote for him again.

Absolutely.

I voted for him because I still think he's matginally better than the Democrats. I am getting oh so tired of voting for people only becasue I consider them the lesser of two evils...I learned my lesson many years ago when I voted for Ross Perot...one needs to think long and hard before voting for an Independant candidate. Sometimes it just equates to helping the Dems get elected. Alexander can go home anytime.

I was one who voted for Perot and I got 4 more years of Clinton. That worked out well. I will not make that mistake again. Now as for Lamar...

RINO!!!!

He should just resign--he stopped representing Tennesseans long ago

He was O.K., I guess, as a Governor, not so much as Senator.

(And I was too young to remember much of his Governorship...)

It's hard to tell the difference between the two parties now, both licking the boots of the independents or middle of the road voters who want to have everything both ways.

Independents are fence sitters and don't have a spine.

The Tea Party has revived the primary election process of selecting the best conservative candidate. It's up to everyone to get involved in the selection process.

I don't think Ross Perot actually ever intended or wanted to win. This is my opinion for what it is worth but I think his stunt of pulling out of the election happened because he, or somebody in his camp actually saw that he was winning. When that happened, he pulled out. I think all he wanted to do was kind of shake things up, get some issues out in the front and talked about. His problem was that he actually started to gain momentum. When he pulled out and then got back in, he lost credibility and a great deal of his support base which submarined his campaign which is probably what he wanted anyway. But yes, by doing so, he likey can be credited with Clinton's election by diluting the vote.

I too would love to see Alexander resign or voted out. Neither of which is likely in my opinion.

Alexander and Corker both need to be replaced. I fear the kind of Republicans Tennessee

produces are more RINO than Conservatives. Even Fincher let me down. All it takes is one

crappy vote to destroy credibility. Blackburn and Black aren't inspiring me very much of late,

either. Maybe the House critters can be persuaded to vote more conservatively, but our

dear senators have a bad batting average and need to be put out to pasture.
