Best way to handle a transfer?

I've decided to list 2-3 firearms for sale in the classifieds. I plan to do only Face to Face transfers and require a signed bill of sale using the forms I've found on this site. I'd be comfortable meeting long-term members of this forum who post frequently in my home, but what is the best way to handle transfers with strangers? I live in a rural area just outside Nashville and I'm leery of letting a total stranger into my home who is responding to a gun ad.

I've thought of inviting my neighbor over (a TBI agent) or meeting at a local country store where everyone is armed anyway. Any additional thoughts would be appreciated. This may sound paranoid, but my 1st cousin in SC got shot two years ago in his home in a somewhat similar situation.

I would never invite someone to my home that I had not met personally prior, regardless of their post numbers. I would always meet at a public location. End of story for me

I have done several deals in parking lots with TGO members. If you're worried at all, just do it during the day when people are around.

Plus, you're gonna be armed, right? Consider open carry, at least for that occasion.

Yep, Walmart has served me well several times. I met Tim Calhoun at an interstate rest stop once as well. Anywhere with people.

I depends. I wouldn't worry about it if I was meeting you. I know you'll protect me

I've done convenience stores, Kroger, somebody's office, and yep, even WalMart.

public location for sure. your little store sounds perfect.

Just don't pull the bill of sale out without warning a buyer first. Lots of us ain't signing things or putting info in writing to buy a gun.

+1 for a semi-busy parking lot in the daytime. It only takes a couple of minutes to look over the gun(s) and fill out the form.

+1 to OC for the occasion.

-10 bazillion for your own home.

This. Any public place should be fine.

As others have said I wouldn’t do it at my house, I meet them somewhere. I don’t usually require a bill of sale, but I do tell them up front that they will be required to show me proof of age and that they are a Tennessee resident. It is illegal to sell to a minor or out of state resident.
