Gun Runners Said I Broke Some Kind Of Record With NICS Overturn.....

Went to purchase the Ruger LC9 today and filled out the 4473, (and yes I do give my SSN on the form) now normally my TICS check takes 2-3 minutes. Mind you I have made five over the counter purchases this year alone, and applied for my HCP which was approved 3/31/11. Not even one minute into the call Steve looks at me a bit befuddled and says “you’ve been deniedâ€. Now needless to say we fill out the appeal and he faxes it over, we discussed what may have changed between my last purchase in June and now, I cannot come up with anything.

I run through the grocery store on the way home to grab a few things and head home figuring it will be two weeks or so before I hear anything. As I am unloading the groceries and my youngest son who was along for the ride (just turned three and got his first squirrel on Tuesday with a little help of course) and my phone rings, it’s Steve now mind you this has been an hour and a half on the outside since the denial and he says “I think you have just broke some kind of record your denial has been overturned. I have never seen one overturned that fastâ€. So I guess I get to drive back out there tomorrow and pick it up.

I really wonder what caused this. Does anyone know if they will still send me a letter stating why?

Has anyone heard of one getting overturned that fast?

Lastly I hope this is not going to be a regular thing I always enjoyed the simplicity in purchasing a gun especially after some of the war stories I have heard.

based on what you said, I would be concerned with what caused the initial denial as well. They must have found a mistake on their part to have fixed it so fast would be my guess.

Thats why I am hopeful that they still send me somthing stating what caused this.

They won’t send you anything. You can call the TBI, but I didn’t get good info from them. ATF ended up telling me what was going on; then I got it fixed.

I was turned down twice, but both times it was approved 4 days later. Without going into all the details, the info the TBI was giving me was wrong. I decided to spent 30 bucks and apply for my C&R through the ATF. They sent me a letter saying there was a problem, and I called them. They told me it was a problem with what the Federal NICS was showing. They told me how to fix it; I did that and haven’t had any problems since.

My first purchase the same thing happened...called me back before I got all the way home.
