"If you love me, you got to help me pass this bill," Obama said, repeating the line to more cheers.

"Give me a win? Give me a break" Obama said, during his pared down stump speech which is peppered with demands that Republicans "pass this bill."

These are quotes from his speech yesterday..

What... there's a bill? Has it been submitted to congress for review, and budget office accounting validation?

I think this is his hail mary pass. He doesn't know what to do, he just thinks he has to look like he's doing something to keep fooling his remaining supporters. He is stuck in campaign mode, and he harming this country.

Sounds like what a wife says to her husband when she wants him to buy her something. Perhaps he's in touch with his feminine side?

Perhaps what he is really saying is.. "If you love me, you would lend me your credit card" !

No, Mr. President, we don't love you. Now go away and never speak to us again.

Hi Batman. Agreed but I don't expect that the R's know what to do either.

Neither D's or R's have the power to "fix" the economy. But gov has plenty of power to make it worse. The best they can do is stay out of the way. Yes there will be occasional unavoidable bad economic downturns. At least the gov should not be interfering in ways which prime the NEXT downturn sometime in the future. GWB-era Greenspan and R policies instituted to pull us out of the Y2K downturn are greatly to blame for priming a bubble for the 2007 downturn.

Old gramps would say, "If you keep picking at that sore it ain't ever gonna heal up."

Unfortunately it doesn't seem practical for either party to do little or nothing-- Allow the economy time and freedom to fix itself. Too many citizens really do believe that the gov can fix the economy. If the politicians don't do SOMETHING regardless how meaningless and futile, then they get voted out.

So the gov HAS to institute placebo treatments to look busy fixing it. The trick is to offer placebos which are not too expensive and not too harmful. A sugar pill is a better placebo than bleeding the patient a pint of blood.
